Palace fan Ed Aarons covered our EFL Cup game in the week. He obviously had to do some research and found a nugget that he couldn't resist sharing. He didn't phrase it well:

His framing of it when he simply had to shoehorn it into the match report wasn't much better. His sentence was so tortuous that people BTL were asking for an explanation of what he meant.

I'll help you Ed "Brighton again failed to reach the quarter finals, having acheived that feat only once in their history." Or perhaps "Palace again failed to qualify for Europe, having had, according to their made up history, more years to try than any other team in the world."

Anyway how are:
1. Adam Wharton and his dodgy groin
2. Eberechi Eze and his hamstring

Beating Villa reserves (with a full strength team) is one thing, taking three points of a fired up Wolves will be another, especially if those two are crocked.

Well it wasnt quite Villa reserves, as they played McGinn, Dhuran, Bailey, and had Mings and Bentacura returning from long term injuries, but when they were a goal down, they took off 3 of those for teenagers, so I dont think they were that bothered about the game.

Lots of talk that our game on 15 December might need to move again due to Carabao cup game. We cant play Arsenal on Wednesday as they have a womens Champions league game at the Emirates that night. so would probably have to be Tuesday, and surely we would not be expected to play twice in 3 days? Any thoughts on if the game could be moved to Saturday, either 12.30 or 5.30 start?

All 3 of those have mainly been subs this season haven’t they? You went full strength. I wasn’t too fussed to see you beat their ressies though - the deserved injuries you got, and the fact our game and attempt at a third home win against you in a row is now on a Sunday 😜

Potato/Potatoe.

But what about Skeletor and Eze, Dan? You must be rather worried about two of your main men being out for the Wolves 6-pointer…

Would make more sense for you and Arsenal to play the League Cup game on Thursday 19th and move the PL game between the two of you due to be played on the following Saturday to Sunday 22nd December.

Well, we started to sell tickets for this yesterday - it would be a HUGE ball-ache to now move it, just 48 hours after the time and date were CONFIRMED. People (ie, me) have made travel arrangements, FFS!

Now confirmed that Wharton will be having surgery to correct his groin injury. You’d imagine 3 months or more out.
Haven’t heard anything about Eze.

The way they’ve played/not played Wharton is weird. They knew he had an issue with the groin and that he would need surgery at some stage. They don’t play him in the league, bring him in for the Carabao and, boom, it blows up good and proper. Rather like Michael “9 minutes at the Amex” Olise and his hammy. Poor old Roy got shit for that. Palace’s medical team and/or Glass Chin should get shit for this then…

Over to you @eaglesdan

Surely this should have been considered way in advance. Everyone knew if Palace and/or Brighton progressed to the League Cup quarter final the game was being moved back to Sunday. As already said tickets are on sale so guess you will have to play on Thursday or the Women's game can be moved to Barnet's ground.
