I have spent a fair amount of time stuck in East Croydon as my dad used to work at the tribunals there and once due to the bomb scare 7/7 and I don't like it. Simple as that.

The simple fact is that you cant compare Brighton and Croydon.

I wouldnt want to Brighton is a Seaside Town and Croydon is a Conurbation, two totally different places. You talk as if all of brighton is fantastic it isnt is it?

All this anti Croydon/Selhurst feeling is quite funny since most of you have obviously never been ther judging by the amount of "What station do i get off for Palace" threads

And i wasnt saying you as an individual didnt know the area but obviously a fair few dont and make comments about a place they have never been that is all

Technically speaking, my Eagle-oriented friend, Brighton & Hove is a city.

Croydon, however, is a town, no matter how many applications its borough council put in (and get rejected) for city status.

It's just not the same is it? I seem to recall Croydon used to style itself "the Largest Town In Britain".

I mean, I suppose any prize is better than none, but that's a little like winning the World's Tallest Dwarf title isn't it? All very entertaining, but unlikely to get Norris McWhirter out of bed.

What next, "Croydon, Britain's Largest Town Beginning With The LetterC, A Tram System And A Shopping Centre With An Allders In It"?

:p

Croydon might have some nice bits on the outside but the centre of croydon is horrible.

Blimey daddy got a good job has he? It probably does but as i have said i dont and never have lived in croydon so water off a duck's back son

I'd be careful what you say about people's parents.

I live in the most ghetto bit around here, church street, where there are a few estates but it's still nicer than Croydon and I dont get any aggro. Plus this place is a tiny one bedroom ex council gaff-hardly luxury.

Yeah but Croydon is a dump, and if your team represents Croydon (which it does really), then they're going to get stick for it.
