To be honest I am a little embarrassed about the fact we have a 39 year old left back, a stand in right back who would get done by Bella Emberg over 50m in El-Abd and a player in Navarro who at best is an average league 1 defensive midfielder (certainly not Champ standard)

On top of this we have 4 sick notes in Vicente, Hoskins, Buckley and Lua Lua.

Gus and Tony need to not only strengthen in Jan but ensure they strengthen with the RIGHT players.

I am not a pessimist, just being realistic.

Think that's a little scathing to be honest BBBW.

I don't DFP just telling it as it is. Unless we seriously strengthen in the transfer window we will finish lower mid-table around 16th....

I totally agree that we need to strengthen the squad, but I think it's unfair to label KLL and Buckley injury prone. Kaz had a broken ankle and Buckley has been having growing pains! We've been unfortunate with injuries hence Tano playing.

whinge whinge whinge.

It's not whinging or moaning, if you want to continue to wear the Emperors new clothes and think everything is perfect on Planet Poyet then be my guest. I however will not, hence my points made in the original post which I believe to be both factual and valid.

What you are saying is nothing new and it has been talked about 1000 times.

To be honest, I am a little embarassed that I support the same team as some of the people on here who come out with such statements - how can anyone be embarassed about Tano playing and giving much needed experience to the team, El Abd (you know, the player of the season last year) playing slightly out of position and Navs who has a >60% win rate when he plays, and a <30% win rate when he doesn't (Someone roll out the stats please, I think its even better than that).

We have had bad luck with injuries, and a combination of bad luck and some stupidity with suspensions... thats it, I suppose that tomorrow you will be "embarassed" about the possibility of a very talented 17 yr old coming off the bench too yeah?

I'm an optimist, I see it as a chance to see how far these development youngsters have come.

Inevitably, some will fail and people will say "I told you so, too soon" and some will excel and people will say "Why weren't we playing them earlier".......

Growing pains? Hmmm that's strange - when I suggested to our doctor that our little girl may have these as she suffered leg pain - the doctor said - 'No such thing'!! And she's 7 - I would hope by the age of 23 anyone would have stopped growing!!!!

Well considering two years ago we were staring the basement division in the face.... the fact Poyet has had ONE FULL SEASON and delivered a championship...... and the fact we are in touching distance of a play off spot into the Preimership...... given the fact that 3 of Gus' 4 big signings have been injured for most of the season, I'd say Planet Poyet is the best place to be.

Seriously, this is NOT championship manager. You cannot just turn a club fighting relagation to the basement division into a side that sweeps all before them aside into the Premiership an Europe like you can on you PC.

Get real mate. If we are fighting to stay in this division in 2 or 3 seasons, then hve a moan. If we end up 16th this season, take it as a major step forward from where we were last year, and the year before that.

I am not embarrassed by Tanno as an individual but I do not think it's unreasonable to think that as a team with aspirations of Premier league football, we should be able to field a younger player with similar ability but more stamina. El-Abd was magnificent last season in League 1 but this is a massive step up and anyone who went to Reading on Monday would agree that he looked massively out of his depth, even accepting the fact he has only recently come back from injury. JFC is a fantastic prospect but at the moment he is just that and nothing more. I am as loyal and passionate as the next Brighton fan (over 700 games home and away is testimony to that) but I do feel that the current squad is not strong enough

Sorry mate, but you are coming over as a complete idiot.

I don't think you will find a supporter or manager or anyone else that thinks their current squad is strong enough. I'm sure Manchester United will be strenthing their squad next month.

Of course our squad is not strong enough. It never will be, and never should be. But then neither is Man utd or Man Citys. You might be a loyal supporter and passionate supporter, but your not one of the brightest mate:dunce:

I have not said in any post that we haven't made excellent progress, the point I am making is that we should have strengthened all positions at the start of the season, we have been shown up as a little naive in this situation

Blackpool play Kevin Phillips - they have aspirations to be in the Premier League (again), how old is he again?

Totally unnecessary and also insulting to make personal comments, I am entitled to my viewpoint, other squads in the championship have far more depth than ours and that's a fact
