I have not said in any post that we haven't made excellent progress, the point I am making is that we should have strengthened all positions at the start of the season, we have been shown up as a little naive in this situation

CMS, Vincente, Hoskins, Buckley, KLL, Vincealot. How many more do you want? We have nearly a whole first of players out tomorrow. I'd say out squad is looking good if we had them all available.

As I said, this is not championship manager, and you just can't go and sign a hundred players just like that.

I really don't see where you are coming from on this one

Totally unnecessary and also insulting to make personal comments, I am entitled to my viewpoint, other squads in the championship have far more depth than ours and that's a fact
Sometime it is necessary to insult idiotic comments like yours. If you don't want to be called an idiot stop posting like one.

Again you sound an idiot. We have only been in this division for 5 months. f***ing hell!!! Off course other squads in this division will have far more depth than ours. What else would you except?? Really what do you expect?? As I said in 2 or 3 years time if we are in the same position have a moan, but FFS live in the real world for a while mate.

2 strikers and 3 midfielders in the names you post there, Vincelot is a utility player who can play at the back or in midfield but not one specialist defender was signed. Bearing in mind we only had 2 fit centre halves at the start of the season and only Taricco covering RB and LB then in my opinion we did not strengthen sufficiently

So you are saying that by default a team who spent the previous season in this division will automatically have a stronger squad than a promoted side...... Your absolutely right, look at Southampton...... Oh........

Oh you really are clueless aren't you.

Southampton had by far the strongest squad in the first division, even though they failed to win it. The should have gone up the season before, and kept and improved that squad. We had a squad looking at division 2, but Gus turn it into one that stormed the title. It was the style of play that won us the championship last year. The squad of players were nowhere near the best in div one. So yes, Southampton have a great championship squd. They have had for a couple of years, even though they weren't in the championship. We had an average league one squd, that stormed the title, due to the style of play. In realaity we should be in the bottom 6 now, but we are not, and the squad is still overperforming IMO.

So do you think we should have just brought in numbers during the last closed season and had many unhappy players who want to feature but can't as we can only play 11 + subs per game? or waited and got the right players in, even if this takes a season or two because the right players weren't necessarily available during the summer or were beyond our budget at that point? We have a squad, but who could have predicted we would be missing as many players as we are now at the start of the season or that last season we would have been so fortunate to have very few injuries and suspensions

This is reality, it takes time to improve a squad, and will probably take us a bit longer to evolve given the starting blocks we had (a squad of Lower end league 1 players) This isn't a computer game were you can get most or all your targets to sign for you and for them to gel together immediately.

How long has it taken Man City to get where they are challenging for the Premier League title despite being the richest club capable of buying anyone they liked?

Consider this, we are just 4 points from the play-offs and have a lot of our 1st team fringe / starting players to come back into the side. To me this says that we are able to improve when they return and that we are more than capable of holding our own in this division and we could put a run together and have a decent second half of the season.

Why there is this urgency from some to get promoted this season is beyind me, if we go up - Fantastic, but our whole future isn't based on getting up this season (a gamble other clubs have made in the past and lost) but establishing ourselves as a Championship team and to give us a platform from which to develop and time to evole the squad with the right players brought in (and hopefully given time to gain their fitness and form and adapt to our style of play before being targeted for abuse by some of our so called supporters and driven out before we get to see the best of them)

So you have now just completely contradicted your previous post, well done. It's clear to me who the clueless one is here and it's certainly not me.

Have we had a problem at center half??? Err, I dont think we have have we. I think you'll find Steve Cook was a center half as well, so thats three, and their was the loan market if needed, not to mention El-Abd and Elphich who took longer to get fit than excepted. How many Centre backs did you want us to end up with?

Both full backs are injured. The natural cover for one is suspended. I'm sure Gus is looking at bringing in at least a new left back, but theres this little thing called the transfer window that stops us. We didnt really need a new first choice full back, but as things have progressed, its obvious we now do, so i am sure if the right one is available, he'll sign one. But if theres not one available, he wont sign him?

Or maybe you would prefer Gus to just sign who is available, whether or not they will bring anything new or better to the squad?

I am not saying we should be achieving automatic promotion but a squad of 22 with cover for every position should have been realistic

Oh that's ok then so just because we haven't had any injuries in the CB position that validates not strengthening in that position ? I didn't realise Poyet was Mystic Meg in his spare time!

Oh f***ing hell is this a wind up? Have I been hooked?

Steve Cook was cover for centre back. Romain Vincealot is cover for center back. Indigo Caldern can cover center back. Added with El Abd and Elphick, how many centre backs do you want. And before you post more shit, I'd say centre back is the one position we are blessed in this season, especially when you consider Cooks performance against Liverpool

Now I know you are an idiot. What position do we not have covered. I think we have at least two options for every position on the pitch don't we.

LISTEN CAREFULLY. WE HAVE NINE PLAYERS OUT INJURED/SUSPENDED. WE STILL HAVE EVERY POSITION COVERED. STOP TAKING SHIT

Clearly Poyet rates cook so highly, that must be why he is selling him to Bournemouth..... You really do come out with some crackers Burns my son. All the others are makeshift CB's and not good enough to play in that position consistently at this level. Elphick is out for the season.

Well.... have you considered that it might be the case that because the other clubs have been in this division for a lot longer than us and have had time to evolve their squads based on years of having more of an income that we did in recent years.

Having a new ground doesn't mean we should be reckless and spend way beyond our means in a gamble for promotion or that we can sign everyone we want or turn us into world beaters overnight.

Promoted League 1 sides tend not to go straight up again as the Championship is a very competitive league and some clubs have a big advantage in the division due to parachute payments as ex-Premier League sides allowing them to have stronger squads than they may have had otherwise this season. Last year was a bit of an exception with Norwich who spent 1 season in League one and won it comfortably suggesting they had a decent team / squad already for Championship football, we came up but sold some of our better players, they didn't butn were able to add to their side and were stronger the following season when they went up again.

Southampton were in League 1 but still had a basis of a Championship squad and should really have won the league when we compare last seasons squads before the season started.

We were a lower half League 1 side before last season so we do not have the same foundattions as either of those sides had last year and which they then built upon the following year to be challenging for honours the following season.
