We take the money(Amazing deal for us tbf) wish him luck, and move on. I don't see the point in dwelling on it. If Potter had him in his plans, he would still be here, period.

Isn’t this related to the manager likely picking Veltman , Dunk, Webster and Cucurella (or a replacement Cucurella who can be a left wing back or CB) ahead of you especially with JPVH in the mix.
OR simply potter doesn’t need him.

I wonder if Clarke will have the same fate? Surely it’s now of never for the ex-Pompey star.

As for JPvH, he seems to a have a lot to his game. Beating Brereton-Diaz to player of the season at Blackburn last season was extraordinary.

Webster is made of biscuits at the moment - hopefully a good pre-season sorts him out. As good as he is there Cucurella is a bit wasted at CB and only really played there as we were short of central defensive options who could play the way we needed to. With a year on his contract no point keeping Ostigard around as he goes on a free next summer if Webster stays fit. Not worth the gamble for someone who hadn’t played for us. JVPH to be fair looks like he might be the real deal so will be interesting to see how much he plays this year.

So a player who has barely played any time for us is contracted on in a deal worth as much as £10m.

I'm still not used to this.

Get with it, daddy-o. We're swinging in a different jungle now.

It's like when you used to go down to the night club and pull mingers, then suddenly you pull a super fit bird.

Takes time and a few face slaps to realise that you aren't dreaming.

I know nothing of these night clubs of which you speak, earthman, but I do think we have to come to terms with the new ways or we will be late. As in, the late Harry Wilson's Tackle. It' s a sort of aide-mémoire that we are no longer in the 1980s.

Unprotected sex, suncream that was factor 2 if you were lucky (and you were never lucky), antiperspirant that didn't work, tobacco smoke everywhere, oy, are you looking at my bird?

Great days! Hang on. Er, no, rose tinted but not UV reflectant spectacles in the hot sun, coupled with age-induced changes to the senses.....Mmmmmmm, no they weren't

That's if it was £10M - or even if it will eventually become £10M - there are conflicting reports (surprise, surprise!) Wonder if it wouldn't be easier all round if the club just told us!

Looking at this on Google, it seems a strange news story to feature in local papers in South Wales, Oxford, Worcester and Colchester. Not sure if it features in the potteries - maybe Stoke would rather not know they'd handed back a £10M (allegedly) loanee!

Anyway, good luck to the young man - will follow his progress with interest. Another success for our recruitment team by the look of it.

So was being POTS, at three different teams, three times in four seasons, two of them in the Championship.

It’s an excellent side-hustle.

It depends whether he is content to be the emergency centreback.
There are frequently 4 or 5 games a season where injuries and suspensions leave us with a gap.

Duffy probably needs to leave us, to keep his international career going,
My guess is Clarke will probably take Duffy's place in the squad, with JPVH taking over from Burn..

Why are you entitled to know?

So long as TB, PB and the club bean counters know, that's all that matters. It's like that incessant "when will player x be back from injury, I wonder if player y has Covd?" before every press conference. We're not going to make that info easy for our opponents to know. Why should we?

Then when told the truth it's usually followed by calls of:-

'I don't believe it'.
'They would say that, anyway'.

Etc.

I usually take the opportunity to elevate Barber-out and include Mr Bloom in the bad decision (there are no bad decisions) gonna have to pull you up on one thing.

The club only has one bean counter.
When your head bean counter instantly knows the price of each individual Opal Fruit, the total amount of each coloured Opal Fruit, in stock, on site...

...You don't employ other bean counters.

I never claimed to be entitled. Of course there's no need for us to know anything. There's no need for us to speculate or discuss transfer fees either, is there? Close this thread now?

Unlikely he’s that far down. Just not guaranteed in our top 2. He’s probably only behind Dunk, Webster and Veltman. He’d have played plenty of football this year IMO.

Maybe, maybe not. However he's certainly not Cucu and the club have said that they 'couldn't guarantee' him regular football.

So gripper's point stands. We, Brighton and Hove Albion, have just sold one of our reserves to Napoli for millions of pounds. I don't think I'll ever get used to this.

You may well be right.

However, JPvH looks a little weak IMO physically and I wonder if he’ll have another loan.
Shame for Clarke.
