oooh thanks.... I was only 'skim reading'

You brought up the Worthing Guardsmen.....not me.... that was your sense of bringing 'mourning' to the room.
I was talikng generally, and with regard to the previous post to mine...
Youre a rather silly man...really.
your response are getting progressively weaker.

Again, who brought 'mourning' into this thread Bushy?
Nobody, I castigated you for your callous remarks , nobody demanded that people mourn, simply that respect was shown, which you seem incabable of , hence my reasoning that you were a bit of a misfit oddball whilst in , accounting for your seeming grudge against the forces which manifests itself in the offhand and casual way that you comment on casualties.

I was gonna suggest Dave that you apologise for using the word "laugh" and that Bushy, you admit that Dave has a decent point when he compares the taliban's tactics with that of the US and that was the point he was making and then we can bring an end to this. But I am enjoying it so feel free to ignore me.

What are you waffling about. The 'debate' was about the war in Afghanistan...you decided that people shouldnt talk about it unless in terms of mourning because a local man was killed... sorry...the world doesnt work to your rules Bushy.
I have no 'grudge' against British forces whatsoever, but im pragmatic enough to know that soldiers die and get injured in conflicts. Sorry if my pragmatism offends you.
Actually, im not, I couldnt give a toss.

'Then laugh f***ing privately then, its not a week since a local boy from worthing was killed out there'.....bring on the mourning.

Yeah yeah Bushy... I see your point entirely.....

'I was in the Guards....he was in the Guards...be respectful to me and my mourning for somebody killed 20 years after I left the regiment'

It was clear what I was laughing at Bushy...you chose to take the route you did.

So, why did YOU bring him into as debate about Afghanistan??????????????

This was a general debate. Not about the poor sod from Worthing. There is a thread for him, that I believe you started.
I was laughing at the hypocracy of the 'they dont fight fair' shit thats often bandied about. That was fairly CLEAR.
However, you chose to bring in the poor sod who was killed. Not me.

I feel as much for the family and friends of innocent Iraqi civilians killed as a result of British and American policy than I do for British soldiers who have chosen to fight a war which our Governments instigated. At least the latter chose that risk.

I find it a very sad indictment of how society has become, by the way your post doesnt make sense , do you mean you feel more or as much for iraqi civilians ? ( most of whom were killed by fellow muslims) , with the ending "than i do " it would suggest you meant to say you feel more ?

Sorry, yes I meant "more" and I mean the ones not killed by fellow muslims but by Western Governments using 9/11 as an excuse to topple Saddam. Should have been clearer. Obviously it's terrible that British soldiers die, but they have that choice.

Whatever you meant , I still find it sad , and pretty frightening to be honest , in a world that is evermore unsure and potentially threatening, the fact that you feel more for foreigners than your own i find terrible , do you even consider british forces " your own " ? I should add that Iraqi deaths also sadden me , just not like british ones, unfortunately i think the luxury afforded to western liberals of being a "citzen of the world" who sees everyone as a fellow citizen , will be brutally exposed as a pile of bollocks if there is ever large scale conflict again, which is highly probable if you look at the seismic shifts eastwards of power and capital.

Not hindsight for many, many people.
This.

Certainly no hind sight in Stat Towers.
It was plan wrong, partly due to being based on Iraq being unable to prove a negative.

If The US had stormed Saudi, at least they would have had justification.

Re Afghan, just pick up a history book.
And that.

Iraq was illegal. Blair has blood on his hands. And we'll never win in Afghanistan. The British army got beaten a century ago with thousands of colonials at it's disposal, the superpower that was the USSR got slaughtered out there in the 70s. What made our Government think a few thousand poorly equipped British servicemen ever stood a chance?

I take your point bushy, but the enemy here is not Kumquat and the likes. It is the sort of prick who thinks it is a good idea to send our troops into stupid wars that are either illegal or unwinnable.

It would be a start if they knew what the objective actually was.
