The thread has been generally about Al Qaeda and the taliban and their tactics..... nothing to do with 'local boys' being soldiers getting killed... I lost friends in the Falklands.... youre not unique Bushey...people in the military get hurt, people in the military get killed...lets stop all debate on military matters until this unjustice is stopped.....no more talk of war until British soldiers stop being killed in them.
He was from your battalion...wow... when were you in that battalion exactly?

.

A bit of respect for something that has a lot of personal resonance is not too much to ask for is it? Stop poking the hornet's nest.

The title thread is... Osama Anniversary - Poll and debate

I posted something in ref to the post before mine, which is the common 'they fight unfair'.....

Not very controversial really.

Just to add a sense of perspective here, I think we all are aware that soldiers do get killed or injured in wars and conflicts, but your assertion that it makes you "laugh" when people refer to IED's as cowardly was always going to inflame.

I find it funny that people consider IED's unfair, but Tomahawk missiles fired from submarines miles away, and hellfire missiles from pilotless drones as couragous soldering.
Plus, the Worthing lad wasnt killed by IED, he was killed by gunshot.

Local boys getting killed are the direct result of the " taliban and their tactics ", its why i thought it pertinent to mention it, i doubt you had " friends " killed in the falklands, people you served with would be a more apt term, i have no doubt you were a misfit in the navy , one of the oddballs that nobody really likes , that probably accounts for your near smug reactions and statements when talking about service deaths , both on this and other threads, the very fact that you questioned when i served in the battalion underlines your total lack of understanding at the sense of comradeship and brotherhood that people feel if they have served in certain units.

I lost two friends on HMS Coventry, Mickey Fowler and Dodger Long....friends, not just people who served on the ship with the same name 20 years after I left it..... but, you can live in your world of only you being affected by British soldiers deaths.

Then you should be f***ing ashamed of the casual, unfeeling throwaway remarks that you've made now and before , though personall I find it hard to believe you had any mates in the navy.

'Support starts to wain when people get half blown up and sent home with limbs missing, or wholly blown up and dont come home at all, by people not fighting cleanly (its just not cricket) and/or not rolling over and letting themselves be walked over.'

Maybe you need specs?

I skim read looking for unfair, and helen keller could have told that the phrase was being used in a sarcastic context, no need whatsoever for you to "respond" .

Whether a response from you was warranted or not, it changes nothing about your remarks both before or since about soldiers being killed and injured , that this happens is not in question , the way you comment on it is , people get killled in road accidents quite often , yet i doubt you'd be pointing this out to someone posting about a friend or relative who had been, your responses are, in my opinion , indicative of a misfit who has some underlying grudge against his country or the forces , or some sort of attempt to impress your much younger muslim girlfriend in the hope that she wont bin you when the money runs out or she finds someone younger.

I underline fake mourning. Nothing more, nothing less.

Any debate on here concerning British troops has to be in a sense of 'mourning' incase it affects Bushy....do one mate.

You obviously realise you're wrong with your attempt to cloud the issue here, ive NEVER , posted that debate about british troops has to be with a sense of "mourning", only that it should be respectful when talking about deaths and casualties, you're trying to claim something that i quite clearly havent ever said.
