Orlandi Gone!

If Orlandi has gone, it will be shame but his injury record this year has been terrible. He was brilliant last year but however good a player is, if they're not fit for most of the season, we can't afford to keep them on.

Procrastination is the thief of time. So no procrastination here.

Big shame if true, once we got him fit he would be a star for us again, we glimpsed his best form when we were pissing all over Derby during that first 20 mins of the Amex leg

I'm struggling to believe that any scout who was at the Derby game to watch Andrea, came away recommending that his bosses sign him.

Could be a simple mistake and he got the numbers 11 and 12 mixed up

yep this close season, i reckon its going to be more revolution than evolution....... Blooms Broom sweeps clean

I was thinking that, but then if you look at the team we could field from players who are in contract
it is still very strong:

GK
RB Dunk Greer Chicksen
Ince Stephens Crofts
March Ulloa Buckley
Subs: CMS; JFC; KLL (probably); etc

We need to sign GKs and FBs (hopefully Ward and Calde/Bruno) but I suspect few others will be retained.

Unfortunately it seems we don't have the budget to pay wages for players that spend a lot of time injured. Wouldn't be surprised if Buckley was next, free up some wages and possibly funds for the new manager

Which club would have the money just to pay players to sit on the sidelines injured. We have too many doing this for the last couple of years namely Orlandi, Buckley, Lua Lua, Bruno and Hoskins. Bearing in mind most are attacking players it's easy to see why we struggle to have a lot of cohesion going forward at times. Would love to know how bad these injuries are (Hoskins apart) or whether a lot of it is in the head. Get shot and get some fit players in who want to play.

Software engineers have a saying about software: "Good. Cheap. Fast. Pick two." Because you can't have all three.

It's a similar trade-off, unless you're at the top of the top flight, or have a Russian petro-spiv as chairman, or both.

Proven. Talented. Healthy. Pick two.

I thought Greer was out of contract but other than that, I agree completely. We've got a decent basis for a team and hopefully can build on that.

On another note, I'd like to see CMS start with Ulloa next season (not necessarily 4-4-2 but as a wide player in a front three). Looked good coming on recently and with a full pre season should do even better.

Upson was keen for another year and can't see why we shouldn't offer him one. Almost ever present and more than capable in the championship.

This is a blow - Orlandi was one of only a very small number of our players getting full marks in the "Back to school" section of the programme. Where can we find a replacement whose favourite food is parmesan risotto? Can anyone report ever having had a risotto NOT made with parmesan? Not counting vegetarian options such as our very own "Twineham Grange", obviously. I'm rattled.

Was it Twineham Grange who were knocking out that hard cheese called something like: "I can't believe it's not Parmesan"? If so, then I tried some once and I completely believed it wasn't parmesan. Anyway, what do the Spanish know about risotto? Nothing, that's what. Incidentally I'm making one tonight Tiny, courgette risotto as it goes. Which will include plenty of peas and parmesan. But they are not in the title. So, your post is 100% spot on. I thank you.

I expect many more to follow....pretty much everyone who is out of contract probably with any replacements earning less money

I.E League 1 standard players. Once again we are going to be weaker next season than this season and thats a understatement. Owell, they want to spend out peanuts, they will get monkeys.

Gutted if true.

Am not surprised because he just hasn't been fit enough this season - an expensive luxury for us. He didn't perform in the play-offs but wouldn't have expected him too whilst so short of match fitness. However, on his day, I think he's the best player we have and the only really creative central midfielder on the books. Was superb for us in 2012-2013 season...

He also seems like a genuinely nice bloke who cared a lot about the club - wish him all the best and hope releasing him doesn't come back to haunt us.

Shame.

First Oscar, then Orlandi. The week gets worse.
