That's a grim stat for Cameron who has spent the last 48 hours pressing international flesh.

Guess the Sunday Times and Panorama stuff killed the bid but what can you do? I'd sooner have a free press and miss out on the WC than just stick our fingers in our ears and scream "la la la la la". I know that sounds like sour grapes and of course I'd have loved it if it was coming here but at least our press took something like a stand.

BBC reporting that Blatter reminded voting countries to bear in mind the 'evils' of the media - if so, that's also very revealing.

Still, maybe we can bid for the Euros sometime soon - much higher quality football and fewer dead rubbers.

Oooh, lets see if we can sort that one out shall we!

1) did a national newspaper in Holland/Belgium investigate FIFA and try to corrupt members?
2) did any of the Holland/Belgium delegation try to diss any of the others, and then be forced to resign?
3) was there any hooliganism in Holland/Belgium recently?

Now we've got nothing to lose we may as well expose them as the corrupt wankers they are. I'm glad the journalists did what they did as at least it's started the process, and it's not as if they lost us 10 votes. They deserve the slaughtering they will inevitably get.

FIFA needs to he cleaned up.

all that effort and schmoozing for nothing....2 votes is a joke or a fix, I'm not sure how many FIFA commitee members will actually be looking at themselves in the mirror when they shave in the morning ?

There was none of that in Australia and we still lost to a tin pot nation with no history of anything sporting, in fact we came last too.

1) No
2) No
3) Yes, there is hooliganism in Holland every weekend, FAR worse than we ever get in England

Only 2 votes leads me to believe our bid wasn't as great as we were told and that the bid team were completely out of touch with reality.

I don't think they could have done much more to be honest. The fact that we only got 2 votes suggests that we were never in the running anyway
