Just the one: Thin Lizzy - Brighton Dome on the Jailbreak tour (either 76 or 77, not sure). Four rows from the front, regularly dazzled by Lynott's mirror bass. Awesome.
I was there for the November 1977 gig - the Bad Reputation tour, I think (Jailbreak was 1976)

For the first couple of numbers, the staff kept making people sit down, but then the 3rd song of the set was the brilliant 'Emerald', which everyone stood up for, and many piled down the front - the Dome's staff wisely conceded defeat and retreated to the back of the venue!

From your username, I'm guessing not your genre. A few years back, having that standard office conversation about the first music act you saw live, when pressed for an answer, a Jamaican woman in our team, who had grown up in London in the sixties eventually responded with "Oh what's his name? 'Dock of a Bay.' " My mouth dropped open, as I asked 'Otis Redding?'. 'Yes, that's him', she said. It turns out that she was at one of these gigs. LOOK AT THAT BILL!!!

Credit to her. Absolute Mic drop, delivered with such nonchalance.

Sadly just the one - Saxon ! They were my 'first' band - my first album bought whilst on holiday from Roys of Wroxham record shop (yes, Wroxham - where every shop is 'Roys').

Growing up as a teenager in Shrewsbury, getting to any reasonable sized music venue was not that straightforward - either Wolverhampton or Birmingham. Went to see Saxon midweek at Wolverhampton Civic Hall. Our school RE teacher was big into heavy metal. He borrowed the school minibus and took a group of us to the concert. So loud non of us could hear properly for the next 3 days.

Went recently to see them at their 40th anniversary concert at the Hammersmith Apollo - absolutely brilliant. The words to nearly all their tracks came flooding back - I was 16 again :) .

Just 1, The Mighty Quo at Epsom Downs :)

I did "see" as in share the business class lounge at a Greek airport with The Scorpions about 20 years ago too.

10. Looking at that list surprised the likes of Blue Oyster Cult aren't there if you're including Floyd!
Yeah, that was the point I was making. I'm not a metal fan and the only 'headbanger' band I've seen on that list is Black Sabbath when I was an impressionable teenager. I don't know why bands like Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd are there - and if they're included why not an outfit like Blue Oyster Cult as you say. I've also seen Thin Lizzy and Lynyrd Skynyrd but I wouldn't particularly call them 'headbanger' bands either.

Oh, and Slade should be on there. Brilliant live band.

I think it's three or four.

Metallica, Megadeth and Sepultura for sure and likely seen at least one more. Will see Machine Head at Bloodstock this year.

Lots of it is before my time and I'm not a massive fan of classic heavy metal. Much more into modern metal and specific genres in that.

*Edit, forgot to add Hatebreed who were at Bloodstock last year.

Such a great list. Sadly missed out on Free and Zeppelin due to timing, would like to see Journey and Foreigner the new singers are great otherwise have seen most of the bands I have wanted to see on that list.

Been lucky to have seen a fair few big acts in small shows including Metallica (100 Club/Marquee), Ozzy (marquee), Kiss (marquee), GnR (Wardour St marquee), Maiden (Queen Mary's College).
Maiden (Queen Mary's College)..........Me Too.

Yes. Although I’d seen Soundgarden a couple of times previously and Faith No More half a dozen times before.
I knew you had seen FNM before wasn't sure about Soundgarden (who I have seen play in a Portland record shop).
That sabbath day was immense though, I got hammered at that show

Motorheads first tour was, IIRC, supporting Blue Oyster Cult.
