That Brickwoods Hollybush is a travesty! That is exactly the sort of pub I would go into just to see the decor......and have a couple!
At least The Race hill was rebuilt as a pub then converted.

Oh wow, thanks for posting the Preston Road picture. I, and both my sisters are 99% certain that The little old lady looking in shop window is my old Grandma and the upright lady other side of the postbox is my Mum walking to meet her.

Bert Basset’s shop once stood at the corner of Grenville Place and Upper Russell Street . That whole area was demolished to make way for Churchill Square.

I guess it stood somewhere underneath this lot.
