There are clearly a good number of very good runners on this thread so thought I would pose a question!

I run a fair bit and I have entered both half and full at Brighton this year! I'm not getting any younger but would love to run a PB in April!

The question is, should I also go for a half PB if I'm feeling good or just use it as just another training run?!

You should decide before the day which is the priority or if both are up there. Then arrange the training plan so that if you go for the half pb you have some recovery for the full. I wouldn't leave it to the day.

24.5km/15miles from Goring back to Hove this morning in two hours. Felt a bit of a fraud with the wind behind me but all good time out on the feet. Coming in the opposite direction through Worthing were a massed group from RunBrighton must have been about 70 of them- it was like a coach party!
Was nt it nice to run in the sun this morning - I'd forgotten what it looked like - and a spectacular rainbow at one point too.

I'm feeling pretty battered after a tough hilly 15 mile. The route was good and the hills kept it interesting rather than the quicker flatter routes.

Worthing half in 7 days so a very easy week of running coming up. What I have noticed is that my acceleration at football is abysmal now since I started pushing past 13 miles. It's never been my strong point but I was like Billy Paynter Thursday.

I've managed 33 sedate miles in the last 48 hours. So very happy with the little pick up at Parkrun yesterday. Since the New Year Soleus problem I have had to up mileage at an injury threatening pace but have just survived using a knobbly roller regularly (changed the rolling pin) and hours of stretching. Looking forward to week ahead as easier week.
Saw Greg Bobkin near Worthing Pool, so much in his zone that he failed to spot me when there were only 3 people in a mile vicinity. That wind was a killer this morning!
That's not true - I had spotted you (or your bright top) up ahead, but was negotiating between that woman and the cycle lane!

Anyway, had a great trot to Worthing and back - the feeling of having the wind behind me as I hit the seafront by that roundabout was lovely. 16 miles in 2.15 - bang on the planned 8.30m/mile pace...

They were starting from the outdoor centre in Shoreham-by-Sea - I got chatting to a guy whose wife was running it.

Nothing wrong with heading just in one direction - 15 miles is 15 miles.

Great pace. I got addicted to the wind so much I had a run along the Pier and did Shoreham Harbour arm on the way home as I had a mile to add somewhere. Well of the gazelles and oxen of NSC for me, more like a sloth. 18 miles in 2:59 or 10" pace. All part of the plan though, so happy with that.

Doing the Henfield 9 mile tomorrow. Not done it before but its mostly off road i believe so could be muddy. Instructions say beware of stiles, gates and cows / horses / sheep so sounds like a run around the farms!! Aiming for 1 hr 15 min but depends on wind and mud.

How did you get on? And how was the event? Was tempted by this or the Chichester 10k but with 2 of the next 3 Sundays taken up with races thought it might be pushing it a bit.

Finished in 1:18 so just outside target. Course was pretty flat along the Downslink and then along the river. Mud was not too bad but there were a couple of bad sections. The wind was against going out but helped coming back and it was pretty gusty. About 150 turned up i think. Pretty well organised and overall a good event. I really felt the last half a mile though. I think the terrain took it out of my legs and the last bit was uphill and very muddy. I also gave blood last week so thats my excuse for the target time miss.

Could be a nice way to celebrate completion of the Brighton Marathon this year.

I'll be in the Connaught about 3pm for a roast chicken dinner too.

I always suspected you would be the NSC Champion drinking running Champion ever since our 10:30 am quick one or two in Wetherspoons after the Brooke's 10k.
I reckon you'll beat me by 30+ minutes and 5+ pints. Like @Guiness Boy I'll be wrapped up in bed before 9, full of food and awash with booze.

Garmin seem to be having IT issues. Garmin Connect and other services are down affecting upload of times etc.

See https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status

It's always problematic for me as my old 305 doesn't sync automatically. When it does it gives more info. than Garmin Connect.

There was a report on BBC this week that Garmin was not very secure and has to much data flying about. It is one site I use a completely different mixed up password on.

Does anyone want to run Brighton Marathon but does not yet have a place? REMF have a spare charity place going. If you do (or you know anyone in your club who would) I can PM you the details. Going to cross-post on the Marathon thread.

Just listened to a couple of interesting radio programs called Eating to run on the bbc iplayer. Well worth a listen, only 30 mins each episode. They go into how diet affects running performance and looked into the different fueling technics of Kenyan, Japanese and South American runners.. Fascinating stuff.

Just binned a run, or technically never left the house. I'll be going this evening though. My cough is getting there and I feel 100% otherwise. However, I got up early, took one look outside and at my weather app and decided my first one back was better off in the dry tonight than the pouring rain this morning. So I'm going to have a coffee and listen to that show Pembury just recommended :)

Does this make me "not hardcore"?
