20:32 at 76.79% for me. i knew that 4:29:00 marathon would pay me back! About my all time highest AG but ran holding a little back. Very happy with that.
Narrowed the gap a little on the AG but I think you'll continue to press ahead.

Lot of NSC at Hove Prom this morning. Results not in but a lot of SBs registered.
Very happy that I successfully Emil Zatopeked [MENTION=23419]penny's harmonica[/MENTION] chasing down a 40m lead in the last half a mile.

You cheated. Lulled me into a false sense of security at the final turn and then breezed past with 300 to go. Your not supposed to get faster when everyone else is getting slower. I’ll be ready for the Knocky/Emil surge next time.

Good turn out today and nice to finally put a face to a banana.

I've ordered 'Today we die a little' to see if Emil Zatopek can help me to a late summer sub 20. I'm going to need some NSC pacers for that.

I felt no reaction to my parkrun yesterday so I think I can get back into training again, just in time for the NSC Worthing takeover on saturday. :thumbsup:

Inspired by Emil Zatopek and having loads of time on holiday in Greece with a beautiful coastal running route, I’m going to hit the medal places in the NSC Strava distance table.

5 runs ranging from 6-8.5 miles with a combined 35 miles for the week, is about my highest ever total. I’ve felt pretty good and ran them quite quickly, so looking good for Worthing and Weakest Link in June.

The miles will hopefully offset the 2/3 bottles of wine I’ve scoffed on a daily basis and the abundance of food at this all-inclusive.

Wilted in the heat at Horsham 10k this morning. Complete lack of fitness post Achilles recovery. Managed a PB on flatter course than Crowborough, will take as small positive. 46:10.

My half best from Brighton seems to have disappeared 1:37:48.

Could somebody more ethnically minded do the honours?

Many thanks for doing this. With the AG rankings I feel like I'm out in front of a race, followed by a mob of chasers who are all focussing on the target on my back. I can't take the pressure!

No such problem for me, I'm just focused on the guy at the front waiting for a sign of weakness! I'll be sitting back on Saturday though. I did what I wanted yesterday.

Help...advice needed.

So up until the last two years I probably averaged 10 miles a week, up to 20 miles in my better phases (i.e when time allowed).

The last two years not so good. I’ve probably had two 6-8 month running sabbaticals in that time, where my return fizzled out before it started - again due to a lack of time.

So, wanting to get my mojo back I’ve just purchased a running machine (Reebok GT40S if you’re interested). Ideal to overcome time constraints and a busy work/life schedule.

I’m not a hugely fit individual and at 34 my head wants to do what my 25 year old body used to, however sadly that’s getting harder and harder as the years pass by.

I don’t do huge distances and in my peak have only clocked a couple of half marathons and a handful of 10 milers.

More often than not it’s just a 20-40 minute blast on the treadmill (or outside) and a bit of interval work to finish it off.

That’s cool with me and running to whatever my body allows on any given day, is much preferable to adding mileage and time pressures.

So anyway I digress....with a running machine now in the comfort of my own home, no gym to drive to, or a lack of daylight hours to consider in the winter this has got me thinking about running twice a day.

Nothing crazy, maybe my
normal run followed by a light 20-30 minute recovery session. Just wanted to see whether anyone else has experimented with double sessions - pro’s/cons, more prone to injuries?, benefits to fitness/weight loss etc.

Have done quite a few double sessions in the past. Would almost always be one hard and one recovery........so an interval or tempo session followed by a 30 min easy-paced run. From a weight loss perspective it doesn’t make any difference (assuming your sessions overall add up to about the same as if you run once a day).

Vary your interval sessions to keep it interesting otherwise you’ll get bored and not bother - treadmill running can be tedious. Set distances (eg 400m, 800m etc) or times, ladders (great workout - do something like 200/400/600/800/1200/1600 m as hard as you can with short walking recoveries) etc etc. You can also do great hill reps - 5 mins at say 8% then a flat 5 min easy paced run, repeat 5 times, that sort of thing.

Done a few Park runs over the years. But that involves getting my arse out of bed, in the car and 6 miles down the road before 09:00 on a Saturday morning. Whereas some people can wake up first thing in the morning and pound the pavement, I’m very much a later in the day runner.

I’ll still do the occasional outdoor run to mix it up of course. Variety is the spice of life and all that.
