Indeed, absolutely lovely up there today. All about enjoying the morning. No care about time to the extent I stopped to take photos and play with another runner's dog for a while.

Well it is the UKs top dogging spot.:eek::eek:
I just concentrated on running.......

Edit beaten to it by another pervert [MENTION=149]timbha[/MENTION]

Three Forts half - it was of course hot, hot, hot! Nice run though - tough and hilly - finished in around 2:03 allowing for stops at water stations.
Gave me a good feeling about the off road events - as everyone says much more relaxed, most people stop at the refreshment stations and have a drink and a chat, then at the end lashings of ginger beer and cake available for free.

Managed to run/stagger up all the hills but need some tips for downhill - kept getting overtaken by alll those buggers whom i’d passed walking up the hills.

You should try the Hardway 13 this August. That’s a real *******, off-road and hilly but with treats galore at the refuelling station at halfway. Outside of a marathon, by far the hardest race I’ve ever run.

Glad you enjoyed it. Real men do the 27 mile Three Forts! I'm awaiting your Strava info. As your slow downhill will probably turn out to be fast downhill.

To run fast downhill think of relaxed 200m sprinting. Look ahead not down, lean forward not back, don't over extend the stride, push knee up and ankle on opposite leg up towards bum, work on fast cadence and relax the breathing. I could show you how, if you have a time machine to go back 30-40 years.

Maybe we should have a NSC away day at Clair Park soon? It's a great strength building course without the long slog of Bevendean.

Mississauga Marathon completed!

It was an absolutely perfect day for running. Around 12-14C, cloudy, barely any wind. So I had no excuses.

I started the race with a clear idea of the pace I wanted to keep. Try for 4.30/km pace at the beginning and see how I felt as the race progressed. This would have put me on course for my target of sub 3.15.

First km: 4.17

F**k it, I'll just try and run the race as fast as I can.

It turned out to be the right decision. I latched on to a few different groups of runners as the race went on. The best was for the last 6-7km there was a women being paced in by a couple of guys, at the same pace I was trying to keep. I think I would have really struggled without them to latch on to. There's so much willpower involved at that point in the race, when thoughts that you're not going to make it start creeping in.

I crossed the line at 3:06:39 (3:06:33 chip time). Faster than I could have hoped for. I'm one super happy (and wrecked) runner

When I was aid-stationing on the SDW100 at Jack and Jill (overnight - it’s the 70m mark so open until about 3am) it was quite startling the number of cars that were coming into the car park and doing quick about-turn when they saw the gazebo, loads of people and the place lit up like a nightclub [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

So that explains your first SDW 100 miler. :sheep: spent less time with them the next year in something I wouldn't even dream of doing.....

...I meant dreaming of running 100 miles not the other stuff.

:lolol: Don't worry, I think it will be a while before my legs are up to running a fast 5k.

Well done all you marathon runners on AND off road. And everyone else out and about. I did my own set of three hills on the bike this morning - well before the heat took over, thankfully!

Rest day tomorrow, thank ****!

Running shoes advice times 2, please.

My Asic Gel Hyperspeed 6 racing special lightweights at 180g are out of production. I need to buy a new light pair for SB efforts and race events.

I also want to buy Saucony. They were recently discussed on here but I can't find the posts. Which ones do I go for?
