How's his waiting list now? Was about 2 weeks last time I called.

When I saw him last he mentioned he could show me some gym exercises to strengthen my dodgy upper left leg and the time might have come for that.

In other news I managed a very very slow 3 miles in the worst of Wednesday's gale and am going to attempt something quicker and interval like tomorrow

I am feeling absolutely binned right now. I attempted 4 x 1 mile sprints in as close to 6 minutes per as possible. Away from the Pier I was fine, but coming back from the Marina was brutalised murder and I did 6:37 and 6:38 at absolute top whack.

Tomorrow is a 10 miler at 8 minute milesish and then 7 x 1km sprints on thursday. My only issue is saturdays, which are scheduled to be 40 minute tempo runs. I should really bin off the parkruns, but I just don't want to and I can't see myself being up early enough to do that, and THEN the parkrun.
Couldn't you combine the two and start early, join the back of the queue and finish at the finish line? (If that makes sense).

It's the starting early part which is the significant problem! That's the intention though, 40 minutes tempo run either including a parkrun or ending with one.

Right now I think I'd be happy with being able to sustain 6:30 pace for the full 40 minutes.

Run parkrun, quickly grab your barcode, duck out of the queue and then carry on until you make up 40 minutes – job done (ish)!

I was out running on Wednesday for the first time in over 70 days. Managed a gentle 3 miles and will continue with another 3 miles tonight. Have had hip issues which look like they are now sorting themselves out. Trying to build up the miles again for the Brighton half and Brighton Marathon, but not sure i will be back up to speed to run the marathon. Did it last year with an injury and it that heat it just took it out of me, so want to be 100% fit going into it. Still time, hopefully it will come together.

Right. I'm going to edit the 5k times on this table this weekend. If interested give me your 5k Season Best and Age Grade and I'll stick it in. The other distances are PBs tell me any improvements. I'm open to changes in format but might as well get the Parkruns up and running again.
A few have given times but they are spread over 3 weeks of posts. Please either beat them tomorrow or give them again. Good running chaps!

I’m planning to make my Park Run seasonal debut tomorrow. For once I have my pick of the local options so leaning towards Hove Prom to ensure the best possible time.

Good luck Greg Bobkin at the dark star tomorrow. Anyone else brave/mad enough to be having a go?

At least it has rained for the last few hours!!!

Sunday isn’t it ? Course will be an absolute mudbath, especially on the way back. At least the weather looks like it’ll be ok on the day.

Sadly can’t make it this year, got to be at Heathrow soon after lunch for a flight. DAMN shame [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

First Park Run of the year and first since November so pleased to post an 18:45 at Hove Prom in decent conditions.

First run out of the Hoka Hupana's. Kurt from Run (Blatchington Road) says these are the lightest Hoka racing shoes. Certainly felt good today and hopefully with a few more Park Run's I can start hitting some PB's, I've really neglected speed work over long runs recently so good to up the pace again.

Also finished second which is my highest placed finish, so all in all a good days work.

Hard to get going this morning but picked up in the second and third mile. Decided against sitting on Simgulls heels and gave him something to chase.
Found a lot of 2018 SBs from the Parkrun site. Anyone need times updating or edited let me know. Hotting up with many around 20 preparing to chase big nuts sitting pretty at the top but the Age Grade percentage is the true sign of class!

Looks like I'm going to have to race a parkrun before too much longer, can't have big nuts sitting at #1 on the table for too long.

He did look in ominous form today, as did The Complete Badger, but I'm comfortable with where I am at the moment and with a couple of weeks until the first BIG raceday of the year in Worthing. I made it 3 late parkrun starts in a row by arriving at Hove Promenade with about 2.7 miles in the tank at 6:45ish per mile pace at about 09:04 and ran a chip time of 20:12 (22:08 gun time!).
