Anyone else doing Abingdon marathon next Sunday 16th?

Supposed to be fast and flat, so ideal PB territory (tempts fate!).

Good luck with this, I was too late with my entry and it was sold out. A friend ran a 3.58 having only previously ran 4.15 so defo PB territory (hopes not to have compounded fate)

LB-that would fit in well with my target! First marathon last September, New Forest, did a 3'49. For Abingdon I'm targetting a 3'30/3'35!Now that will have definitely sealed my fate!

Will do (unless I blow up)!

Still meaning to email Albion shop to see if they can produce Albion technical running vests before Brighton marathon. Reckon there would be plenty of takers.

East Grinstead tri is a very good Tri. Havent done it myself but all the people i know who do Tri's have done it and it has got great feedback. Have just started training with a tri club, would suggest training with others, really helps.

Good luck.
Cheers, EG Tri club meet Saturday morning 07:00am??? Bit too early for me on a Saturday. I will have to look at other options of training with others. Cheers

You beat me by 20 secs. Did it in 41'35 last November! Had marathon fitness still in me when did it. Only an extra 95 secs less but going to take a big effort for me to ever get sub 40!

Following my post I sent this to the clubshop email address this morning:

"Greetings

Have been meaning to email you for a while. I’m a regular runner, and am wondering whether you might consider producing an Albion running vest? Particularly with the Brighton marathon coming up, think it would be a good seller. When I mentioned on North Stand Chat a while back, there was quite a bit of interest.

Of course there are also the now 2 Brighton halfs and the Brighton 10k, as well as the London Marathon, Great South Run etc besides. Running really is popular these days, and the chance to do this in a big race, wearing the stripes, would be fantastic and a potential money earner for the club. (The actual Albion shirt is far too hot/heavy for long distance running!).

Running fans would also likely take up the lettering on front/back option to make even more money for club.

Look forward to your reply."

Hopefully one of us will get a positive response.

I'm out injured at the mo :-( It's nothing major and I should be back by Xmas time. It's frustrating though, and I really miss it.

I've done the New Forest half, a wonderful run. I love that section up on a ridge where you see for miles all around you.

Not focussed enough on the race HT if you had the chance to admire the view!

For me, the last 6 miles were hell! All pretty much modest uphill and never thought finish would come. Never been to such places mentally in my life before but, a bit like childbirth (so I'm told!) I soon forgot the pain and gloried in the achievement!

Thanks Stoichkov. Would be good if any other runners could indicate they would be likely to buy, to help prove to the clubshop that it would be worth sourcing/stocking.
