Excellent! I did my first continuous 45 mins in Feb this year. Now up to 10-13 miles for my long run.

That extra time will burn calories, which in turn will make you lose weight, which in turn will see you run faster and longer. An hour unbroken isn't far off.

This, brilliant effort.......well done
 






I was going to, but the family and I are getting eaten by Lions at Longleat instead. That should be a good little run though, could get a bit wet and sandy if you hangaround a bit.

Something a bit different, but there's still place's at the Velothon marathon Preston Park cycle track marathon in Novemeber, run by the same people if your interested..

Don't get eaten Mr Marathon man!

Looked at the Velothon marathon & don't think it's for me. 7 laps of yesterday's marathon was enough loops for me.

I'm doing the velo........never done a track marathon so happy to give it a go. Not sure of the track length but guessing it'll be about 75 laps. My coach bloke and one of his proper runners are going for PBs on it. I am going to get lapped about 30 times. Only marathon you're never more than 250 yards from an aid station or your car [emoji3]

I hesitate to say my run this morning was perfect, but it was damned near it. The Truleigh Hill 10.38 was SMASHED this morning - I might even have to drug test myself!

These are my stats for the first time I ran it, and this morning. I can't quite believe the difference...

A shoe / technique question. I am going to get new shoes at lunchtime. I should have had a look at the underneath and not just gone on my assumption that they "felt" knackered. The grip has totally worn away in places as well as the outside being shredded. The interesting thing is the place that it has gone though. The majority of the grip looks fine but it is totally worn on the outside of the heel. Hopefully the attached picture conveys it.

Is that a sign of flawed push off technique, dodgy arches or just the same issue with the way that the Brooks are made as [MENTION=6886]Bozza[/MENTION] had? To me it looks like I might only be pushing off with half my heel and / or running flat footed.

Looks very similar to mine. Really worn on the outside of the heel, particularly on my left shoe, with the inside heel being all but perfect still.

Def take the shoes to the shop with you - they'll be very useful (assuming it's a decent running shop) to the staff in assessing what you need. Looks like a mix of heel-strike and pronation (not at all uncommon) so they'll probably recommend some from of stability shoe

There's quite a camber on that track -- 75 odd laps running consistently lop-sided like that seems like a recipe for injury to me, so my guess is that the proximity to the aid station might be helpful.

Yeah agree - bit worried about that. Not sure it's so bad right on the inside but we'll see.

My trainers and normal shoes always wear at the same place (outside heel).
Not sure if it's connected with my over-pronation or not.

The store that sold me them watched me run in them. However they are now seven months old and I have totally changed my body shape and running ability in that time. Basically I have lost two and a half stone and now run 10k in 50 mins and just did my first half marathon. When I got them I was a fat so and so and managed "long" runs of about 2 miles. The iterative process sounds about right though so I will be taking in the old ones as Dazzer suggested. May well avoid Brooks as a make this time due to the general outside wear even though they were stupidly comfortable.

I wouldn't avoid Brooks based on that. The pattern of wear will be due to your running style, and not the shoes.

What I did discover though, when I was investigating the wear on my GTS15s, is that Brooks seem to have a reputation for outer sole wear generally. I guess this means that the compound they use is less durable than some other makes.

So, you'd have seen the same pattern of wear on another shoe, it may just have taken a few more miles to get to the same level as you have now, if that makes sense.
