Having had a 'mare on Sunday I had nothing much to recover from. A couple of days off the booze as well so I thought I'd just try and run a 5k flat out (for me).

Actually started way too slowly (unlike Bozza I have a problem starting at the RIGHT pace, starting long runs too quickly and short ones too slowly) but still managed my 5k loop in 25.15 which is my second fastest ever and my fastest ever outside a race. I come back in to the wind too.

Very pleased with that and the fact my foot has stopped hurting for now.

No, that is exactly the same problem I have. These are the splits from my fastest half-marathon where I ran my second best 5km, at the time, at the beginning:

Fair enough, add a minute to each of those (two to miles four to eight) and reduce it down to eight miles and you had my Sunday :lolol:

I took a break from the hills or Portslade & Mile Oak today and ran flat along the seafront in nice cool conditions with little wind. Aimed for 7 minute miles or quicker for an hour which I just about achieved, could have probably stretched to 9 miles but had to get back home, but would like to try and maintain that pace for 10 miles next week if I get up early enough.

Splits below kept a fairly consistent pace throughout.

After a break from a long run at the weekend, it was back out for eight miles this morning, and it was good. I swiftly changed my 8min/mile pace aim to 7:45s as it felt comfortable to do so, and finished just over a minute outside the hour. Briefly thought I'd cocked up on the distance, but managed to finish just about on the mile, to satisfy my OCD tendencies...

The only other thing of note was that COG was chucking out a children's playhouse with the rest of the rubbish and recycling. Make of that what you will ???

That's a lovely looking loop. I must work on my GPS drawing.

By the way, "The Lipton Ice Tea Hour Classic"?

Ever since I bought my Garmin and stored my run data, I've always named my runs as though they are an event (for amusement) rather than just run 1 run 2 etc...

In the last year I've run and won the following races (on my own) :-

The Shake 'n' Vac 7
The 2015 Blake Carrington 7 mile supreme
The Frey Bentos 5k
The Utterly Butterly 8 mile
The Swinton 4 mile seaside grand prix
The Kevin Sheedy 10k
The Dempsey & Makepeace 3.3 mile lagoon loop
The Rusty Lee 11 mile invatational
The Neutrogena 5k
The Annual Chaz & Dave 15 mile supreme
The Winalot Prime 10k

By the way good pacing on your 8 mile run today, always good to quicken up through the run.

Thanks, like I said, I was happy!

Loving the "Rusty Lee Invitational"

I'll keep an eye out for them in the future!

Went to the cricket last night and watched Sussex get thrashed. Still thought I might get up for a run but then got woken up in the middle of the night by the thunder and turned my alarm off.

Woke up a t 6.15 out of habit anyway and by 7 it had stopped raining and I was bored so I went to see my hill. She was good to me.

Managed my longest distance and time last night, 45 minutes continuous (previous best of 30 mins continuous or 2x 18 mins with a walk in between) and managed just 40 metres short of 7km. Not amazing pace but felt good afterwards (better than Monday's 5km) especially given the warmth and humidity and managed to speed up for the last (slightly downhill) km.

Excellent! I did my first continuous 45 mins in Feb this year. Now up to 10-13 miles for my long run.

That extra time will burn calories, which in turn will make you lose weight, which in turn will see you run faster and longer. An hour unbroken isn't far off.

These are superb.

I normally use really boring names for my Strava runs but on this morning's run it was particularly puddly. It also went on a hill where a dog had been bitten by a common British snake. I therefore called it "Lakes and Adders"

Anyone running Beat The Tide 10k in Worthing (evening) next Thursday?

I was going to, but the family and I are getting eaten by Lions at Longleat instead. That should be a good little run though, could get a bit wet and sandy if you hangaround a bit.

Something a bit different, but there's still place's at the Velothon marathon Preston Park cycle track marathon in Novemeber, run by the same people if your interested..
