Was linked with going back to PSG, Arsenal, Leicester were literally in for him - I’m sure your post is tongue in cheek but I think he’s decent and just what we need.

Linked by who? His agent probably.

The same way we are linked but all the sources this end are denying any interest.

Brighton factually.....
The Celtic team he’s playing for is garbage. They’re usually a level or two below the PL, but even by those standards this is a shocking Celtic team. Revitalised with a move to the PL, with far better players and an exceptional coach I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t perform better.

Not saying he’ll be a World beater mind. But for a punt he’s a good age and has some resale value. With a huge, huge upside if he performs well. I don’t know what realistic striker you think we should buy?

Listen I understand your point of view, reasoned and well thought out, making valid excellent points.
However we’re simply not interested and will certainly not be paying 20 million for him…

Now Celtic probably need the money 😉

Well we’ll find out soon now they’re out the Champions League.

I just worry that he's another flat track bully who will get found out in the Premier League.

Danny Welbeck is a great example of the type of striker we should be going for, someone who has proven themselves capable at this level.

Every time we take a punt on a Locadia, Jahanbakhsh or Edouard we are risking false economy.

Well that couldn't have gone any better:

1. Celtic out of Europe so need the cash.
2. His performance was lacklustre so Celtic will be less inclined to take the piss with the fee
3. Supporters want him gone.

This reminds me of Duffy's last week at Blackburn - a couple of own goals and a red card, he left in ignominy and became a star at the Albion.

“What about Odsonne Edouard's contribution? He's the best striker Celtic have by miles but he wasn't particularly switched on this evening - or in last week's game. He had one opportunity this evening but skewed an early volley high and wide.

The 23-year-old has one year of his deal to run and is being linked with different clubs almost daily.

Brighton are the latest side credited with a keen interest, while former club PSG are due a large slice of any transfer fee.” BBC

yep always a risk and always a chance they’ll flop. I just like the guy as he’s strong, quick and skilful - Lokaku type mould.

I just hope we don’t go through this window and end up not getting a striker, can’t handle another season of “What If”

In Welbeck's best ever season he scored 9 goals.

I know, but that's still better than Locadia and Jahanbakhsh combined.

If our front 3 Scored nine goals each next season, I'd be over the moon.

Our market for strikers is to take a punt. We are a lower PL team. We either:
Go for fringe players at higher teams (so you could argue they aren't scoring/playing enough)
Go for players from another country (so you argue they may not be prepared for the PL)
Go for players below us (so you could argue they may not make the step up)

Guaranteed PL goalscorers are not coming to Brighton at this stage.

Whatever we do, it's a punt and that's fine

You’re not wrong. There’s a risk, of course. He could flop. Happened to many players, some good ones even.

It’s tricky but this is the market we’re in. Players past their best or unproven at this level. With you on Welbeck, but there’s not many like him around. The other lad I think we would go for would be Adam Armstrong, but suspect there’s a bidding war for him.

Am sure the club would weigh up all scenarios. But this one has reasonable recovery, if it goes badly you’d think we’d be able to recoup half the money given his age. And if he does great, then the upside could be incredible (on the pitch and monetarily).

Some of the defending (used loosely!) on that!!! I could do better and I’m 52 with a dodgy knee.

[emoji23] absolutely true.

But he does showcase very neat finishing and good ability on the ball. A world away from Locadia’s showreel.

Haven’t fact checked this, but I believe Eddie does have a reasonable scoring record in the Champions League, which does give a bit more credence.

I hope you are all correct and I'm just fretting.

But the fact we've just given Ali Reza away for a packet of Toffos just to get his wages of the books gives me cause for concern.
