From what I can tell of The Athletic, it's not Naylor's job to write "anything remotely interesting". The people they have covering individual clubs are either ex-local paper lags or - if they couldn't get them - kids fresh out of journalism schools. If they had wanted better writers, there are several candidates who are Albion fans. He is there because they assume he has good contacts at the club he covers. So naturally he has to be cautious because if he gets a big transfer stories wrong I don't imagine it will go down too well with his bosses.

Are there any kids “fresh out of journalism school” at The Athletic- blimey !
Can you name anyone ?

No chance, Celtic just trying to sell a story to up the fee they receive. Watch Palace take the bait

‘No chance’ is the sort of thing that can make you look silly ;)

I’m still thinking Owen must be right but I have hope I’m wrong. But to boldly declare ‘no chance’!!??
Vegabond will rightly be on you like a ton of bricks if this were to happen

Celtic are out of the Champions League in 5 minutes unless they score. That particular boost to their income will be gone. Perhaps they need to cash in on Edouard quickly?

Odds on Edouard

He’s also odds on to stay at Celtic if you look - and someone on here had a bet on his which literally moved the odds 2(!) places - ie it was 8/1 and it became 6/1 - the odds ahhh def moved because of people punting on after the several different ‘claims’ this week (one we were waiting til after tonight to bid and one we’d bid £18.5 mil)

Twitter hilarious tonight. Lots of very pissed Celtic fans slating Edouard and offering to drive him to Brighton.

Well for once I hope Naylor is right, and we are not interested, in a disinterested player, he’s not worth 20 million pound, I wouldn’t swap him for a soggy bag of chips

Was linked with going back to PSG, Arsenal, Leicester were literally in for him - I’m sure your post is tongue in cheek but I think he’s decent and just what we need.

I can't decide if he's a world beater or useless. It must be one or the other

The Celtic team he’s playing for is garbage. They’re usually a level or two below the PL, but even by those standards this is a shocking Celtic team. Revitalised with a move to the PL, with far better players and an exceptional coach I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t perform better.

Not saying he’ll be a World beater mind. But for a punt he’s a good age and has some resale value. With a huge, huge upside if he performs well. I don’t know what realistic striker you think we should buy?

Look at what happened when Duffy was playing for Celtic, he looked awful. There is something rotten at that club and they're about to start sliding downwards.
