time-limit payments such as housing benefit, incapacity benefit, unemployment benefit etc; cancel family tax credits to single parents under 25; child allowance likewise and cancel all payments other than basic pension to non-UK residents
How do you time limit Incapacity Benefit to a person who has no legs (perhaps they have been blown off whilst fighting for their country)? They are hardly going to grow back are they? 'Sorry Mr Smith youve been receiving this benefit for 6 months and so are quite clearly a scrounger, so we are stopping it'.
How do you time limit housing benefit for pensioners? 'Sorry Mr Jones you have been receiving your housing benefit for a year now since you were 65. You are quite clearly a scrounger for not dying yet so we are stopping your money. I dont car that you may have worked all your life but you dont deserve to receive this help anymore'.
What happens if you cancel family tax credits to single parents under 25 (or any age for that matter)? They dont work at all. This means they claim Income Support and therefore full rate housing and council tax benefit. These benefits cost more than paying the person family tax credits. It also means that they dont contribute anything to society or the economy.
