Is this just me - for the last day or so running NSC I keep getting a scripting error

"A script on this page is causing your web browser to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive"

Only happens on NSC - I use many other pages ok. Using ie 8 (no choice on that, it's a work PC).

I'm getting them too, but only when using IE.

Try another browser, me thinks.

Edit. Just saw you can't.

I possibly could, but I need to use IE for our own s/w (not quite sure why it was written specifically for IE, but there you go). I use Firefox at home, but I've not tried NSC at home in the last couple of days.

Bozza has installed a new advertising script on a trial basis, and this is what is causing the issue we are seeing.

I have been getting this every time I referesh the big board. Just rebooted my pc but it seems it is definitely linked to NSC.

Bozza, I think I can possibly trace it's origin to the thread on 'Jetwash, Girl in Bikini, visit to the Dentist'.......assumed it was such a hot link that my pc couldn't handle it!

Not getting script errors as such, but some of the buttons seem to have pictures underneath them? Is that supposed to be or are they the script errors?

Not entirely coincidentally I suspect, I dropped some new JavaScript onto the site yesterday lunchtime as part of a new advertising trial.

Obviously stuffing up the site for users was not part of the plan.

If you are experiencing issues please post here, making sure to include what browser flavour and version you are using. If you have other browsers available, I'd appreciate it if you were able to try with those quickly to see if it is browser specific.

Fanks and that.

(Any slowness prior to yesterday is likely to be at your end - nothing has changed behind the scenes on NSC for some time now)

Using IE9 yesterday when viewing the 'Mattock' thread and numerous additional browser pages started automatically opening which i couldn't stop and had to resort to task manager to stop the process. Only happened on that thread, tried Chrome and that was fine but tried IE9 again and the same thing happened. Plus generally very slow page loads so gave up on NSC for the day.

What was on these numerous other pages?

I do wonder if the people that write IE have something against all other developers, 9 times out of 10 if I'm fixing a browser specific bug it's an IE thing. I had a JavaScript issue last week that only manifests itself in IE7 as the usual non-specific and completely useless error message, of course it was fine in IE6 (which people should STOP using) and IE8. For a company that prides itself on writing user-friendly software Microsoft should really back that up with a browser that isn't absolute wank.

Nothing! they were all just blank pop-ups and another one was opening every second, I couldn't close them quick enough or even as a group so resorted to ending the process in task manager which did the trick. Did it twice, only using IE9 and only on that thread, very strange.
