I will be visiting an ASDA in the near future to fill up a shopping cart with loads of perishables which will then be abandoned somewhere in the store...bastards!

Is it not time to start playing the Trolley Game as suggested by Gullseye whenever you came across a Focus.

Go into Asada, get as many goods in your trolley as possible (individually wrapped goods from the Deli are good for this exercise). Run all your goods through the till and then tell them you wallet is in the car. Get in car drive off and then they have to delete all the purchases from the system.

If they have the self scanning equipment that Sainsbury's has, you do not even have to inconvience the checkout staff.

Sounds like a job for Danny Seagull to me, now that he's grown out of letting off stink bombs in Mcdonalds.

Done ....

Dear Sir / Madam,

If feel I have to object in the strongest possible terms to the actions of your Brighton, Hollingbury store. You may have seen in the national press that Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club are in the process of waiting for the outcome of a Public Inquiry into the building of their new stadium. In the meantime they use a local athletics stadium for home matches. Unfortunately this temporary home is not of sufficient size to produce a sustainable income without extra seats being installed. In keeping with the Football Clubs drive towards responsible transport methods it is necessary to find a third park and ride site for match days. They have applied for planning permission to use a road along side the industrial estate that your store is sited on.

This Park and Ride site will only be used on match days. If you study the road layout you will note that Asda customers enter the store from either the north entrance at the bypass or the south entrance via Carden Avenue. The connecting road is of little significance to your customers entering your store. Despite this the store has a petition objecting to the plans.

The plans will have little, if any, impact upon your trading and put the store in a anti-community and vindictive light. As a company you may have a right to object but to encourage and pressure your customers to sign a petition seems morally indefensible. Thousands of people voted in a local referendum for the club to be able to build a new home. Thousands of people regularly watch the club. Do you really want to risk alienating these people and losing their business ?

You may wish to view http://www.northstandchat.biz/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15735
to see the feeling this is producing.

Please remove the petition from your store immediately.

We really need a protest outside the store with us either wearing Albion shirts or Tesco Bags. I shall be popping in there tonight to register my protest, and no I won't be buying anything, although it is my local store.

Anyone know an email address for the the Council department that is considering the application ? ( Lord B ? )

I want to complain that the petition from Asda is invalid as they are pressuring customers and staff alike to sign so it doesn't show a true reflection of peoples views.

No troubles with boycotting ASDA/Wal-mart round my way. I always shop at a local shop for local people.
Few thoughts -
Do the Club know about this? Send an e-mail off, try and get something in the programme on saturday. Not everyone reads NSC!
Anybody up for making a crude home made banner? Or maybe print off a load of BOYCOTT ASDA signs? Nationwide coverage on saturday, doubt if thats good publicity for the Americans.

Sounds like the same strong arm tactics that ASDA have been using in Worthing to get their own way. That application is to be heard soon and interestingly they have said that despite the new store being sited in the middle of Durrington, it won't cause transport problems with lots of extra car movements. They can't have it both ways surely?

I won't be using the Hollingbury store on matchdays any longer

ASDA is rubbish anyway. Pikey food.

I'm gonna start doing as much shooping down the Open Market as possible, the bacon down there is top notch.

e-mail correspondence between me and Martin Perry:-

from me:-

In view of the petition they are organising, is there any mileage in a “Boycott ASDA” campaign?

Or a hastily painted banner for the Plymouth game?

MP's response:-

I don't think a hastily painted banner will be very effective because SKY won't show it. But a Boycott ASDA Campaign will be very helpful - wind it up as much as you can everywhere.

Colin Hilton the guy the Argus interviewed does'nt live in Carden Avenue and he doesn't live in Withdean - his girlfriend does. He is using the Carden Avenue issue to try and stop the extra seats - its got nothing to do with traffic or safety in Carden Avenue. Tell the world!!
