Why do they have no right to travel around Europe playing on the biggest stages? Who do you think should decide who has "the right" to play on the biggest stages?
UEFA have the right, it's their qualifying competition so they have the right to decide how it's structured. As Easy 10 points out other sports have lower ranked players/teams having to qualify for the right to face the big names on the biggest stages and UEFA should do the same. Other footballing federations have preliminary stages making the lower ranked sides play off for the right to make it into the later stages of qualifying for the World Cup.
UEFA should follow suit and restructure as no one wants to watch the likes of San Marino, Andorra and Gibraltar getting thrashed each week. Get them playing off against each other first and make them earn the right to share a pitch with the best players rather than just giving it to them. You may see them slowly improving as they actually build some confidence from winning a few games rather than thinking losing 6-0 is a good day at the office.
When a non league side get drawn against one of the best PL clubs you know they've earned the right to play on the pitch on that day. It makes the training and hard work worth it, it gives other players something to strive to. Nothing is handed to them and it means so much more, win or lose.
