My Auntie, who likes a football flutter, had a tenner on 10-0

What a bet.

Good result for Northern Ireland.

Means Italy now have to qualify through the play offs.

Anders Dreyer came on as a sub for Denmark tonight - do we stil have any tenuous financial link with his career progress?

I havent got any facts but doubt if Greaves and Shearer had many opportunities like Kane to score 7 goals in a week against that standard of opposition

And your point is?

Or is it just another angle to knock England and Kane in particular?

You can only play what's in front of you.

Pisses me off that domestic football gets binned for the week so England can be 5-0 at half time in a word cup qualifier against a side that are EFL League 2 standard at best.

It’s for the good of the game globally.

If San Marino were an English football team……… what league would they be in ?

League Two was quoted above but I think it’s lower than that. It’s rare that a side like England, even poor England sides, don’t put a minimum of 5 or 6 past San Marino. That doesn’t routinely happen in the FA Cup, and of course you do from time to time get the odd upset - San Marino will NEVER beat a top 30 international side.

Their players generally play for a mix of Italian sides between the third and sixth tiers, the lower of which are amateur. You’re certainly getting into the regional leagues over here in terms of standard.

Well since everyone seems obsessed with population size. The commentator tonight compared them to Rotherham.

They currently sit 3rd in League One.

But as anyone with an ounce of sense knows, it doesn't quite work like that. Not unless Rotherham United are currently made up of part time players.

Or at least limited to using players born in Rotherham…

Yeah they would be absolutely stomped in League Two, no chance. Same with National League. Somewhere below that.

Incidentally, who would represent the world’s top international sides, pound for pound based on population? Obviously at the bottom of the list would be the likes of India and China with their massive populations and not very good football teams, but who’s at the top?

Iceland, 62nd in the world with a population of less than 350,000 must be up there, as must Croatia - 18th with a 4.4m population.

Its an absolute joke we have to play these mugs home and way.

F*ck playoffs. We need to get back down to WC groups of 4, with the top 2 qualifiying. What kind of DILBERT would actually buy a ticket to watch a game like this ?

Of course as far as FIFA are concerned its all about selling TV rights for junk games. Players get to artificially boost their stats against a bunch of amateurs, ITV get a couple of hours to fill their schedule and pump some ads, and we get to sit there and watch a load of half-paced pro's slap some goons around for a bit.

Tiresome in the extreme. Its not even sport.

Harry Kane scores 7 in a week to be compared to Gary Lineker.

When there were groups of 4 back in the 70s only the top team qualified!!
