When you lose 7-0 to a side who didn't score and conceded 5 themselves a week ago, there's absolutely nothing remotely positive to take away.

It can't be ignored. It shouldn't be glossed over. It can't be explained away.

Completely unacceptable.

Tippy tippy possession football isn’t working - too many opponents behind the ball. Let’s have a go at using our wingers and hitting teams quicker when they haven’t got so many back. Is this Plan B? Not rocket science.
I have to say, Forest were excellent at getting back into a solid defensive shape after they lost the ball.

I don't actually think he's hiding, I think he is struggling and is unsure what clear tactical messages to pass on to the pitch....so he doesn't.
Not sure there was a lot of tactical messages he could have passed on when our defence couldn't even do the basics right.

Minteh was our best defender today! Says it all really.

I actually thought during the first 10 minutes that Forest were there for the taking.

They looked like they were struggling with confidence after last week's loss.

Then Tariq decides to ignore their most dangerous player being free on the wing and Dunk makes another mistake.

Then after the set piece second they were purring like 2011 Barcelona.

Just far enough away from LDC
Indeed...so blame the players...yes?
None of those are different from many goals weve conceded this season. It seems the players seemed to be carrying out orders from the manager. That is more the only explanation for the 7th at least

Dunk pre match interview watch his body language all is not well
I haven't seen it, but I'd very much doubt he'd be in celebratory mood after a game where he's just captained an Under 8's defensive performance, no.

Edit: oops, sorry. Just read you wrote pre, not post :dunce:

This is not a dig at Lamptey, especially as JPVH and Veltman were far far worse in defence than him today!, but how did he escape a booking?

1. Dive - freekick given but no card.

2. Deliberate handball - freekick given but no card.

3. Wrestling a player to the ground without even looking at the ball - penalty given but no card.

Bizarre!

On that 3rd point. Why the refereeing inconsistency? Bruno used to bear hug players every week at corners and always get away with it. Every corner nowadays is a wrestling match in the box, and some are given, some not.
Couple of seasons ago he'd get a booking almost every single match - usually for some sort of innocuous challenge that no-one else got booked for (and for chating by Grealish). So, I guess he's owed a few lenient decisions.

I'd agree that the formation was an invitation to Forest to do what they do best, but there were one or two truly abysmal individual performances. I've been a defender of Lamptey, but there was nothing good to say about him today. Hinsh didn't look fit, and what JPVH was doing for their third goal, only he knows. Certainly not marking the only Forest player in the six-yard box. And Verbruggen didn't do much to dispel the uneasy feeling I always have about him.

A bad day at the office all round, with only Minteh and Georginio giving anything like decent performances. Joel also did okay, but he's not getting any younger and against a team like Forest he's always going to be exposed at some point.
