Well yeah, except there are a lot more people who want to stand than there are seats in the back rows.

And therein lies the problem in a nutshell. Thirty odd threads, wailing and gnashing of teeth, threats, abusive pm's all for this.

Why this particular fan? Hundreds of people in the North Stand spend much of most games on their feet (and not just in the back four rows).

You make an example of one person and everybody else follows suit. He was just unlucky to be singled out. Could have been anybody. Control one person, control them all.

With the extra seats going in they should make it the back 8/10 rows. If you are in those seats and want to sit there are plenty of other areas to move.

Fantastic video.
... and, of course, in complete breach of the conditions of entry to a professional football match.

"No person (other than a person who holds an appropriate licence) may bring into (or use within) the Ground any equipment which is capable of recording or transmitting (by digital or other means) any audio, visual or audio-visual material or any data or information in relation to the Match or any aspect of it.

"However, Mobile telephones are permitted within the Ground, provided that they are used for personal and private use only PROVIDED THAT no audio, visual or audio-visual mateiral captured by a mobile telephone may be published or otherwise made available to any third parties including, without limitation, via social networking sites."

I totally disagree with this notion of making one person an example of and then
everyone else should follow. That's the thinking of Neanderthals.

I mean ffs this is 2013.

Meanwhile the rest of the ground manages to sit down then stand up only when there's an attack. It's not rocket science. Val doonican had a whole career of singing while sitting. Until the rules change following a general change to safe standing, is it too difficult to follow the rules for the sake of others and the players?

No.

The point is that HUNDREDS of fans stand up in the North Stand - and not just in the back four rows. Why has THIS fan been singled out for a ban?

The problem is, most of the people here find they are above everybody else, or perhaps don't get on too well in the 'real world' and want to make themselves seem tough on an internet forum. Hence why you find a lot of complaints here. People are also well known for twisting a story to suit their agenda. You may sometimes notice that it appears key details are missed out of stories which beg for sympathy and which invariably make the stewards seem bad.

Really can't see crowds ever getting as low as 13000 in the lifetime of the stadium.

Why not? The good times won't last forever. Plenty of bigger clubs than us have found themselves floundering about in the lower leagues playing in front of those kind of crowds.
Ask Middlesborough fans.

Without being privy to the conversation I have no idea. However if the OP did not want a ban all he had to was sit down. The situation was entirely avoidable.

I think most people agree that the rules are daft and have no serious basis in any concern for health and safety, but given that bans have been handed out, fans can hardly complain that they too get ejected after not complying with a request from the steward to sit.
