I heard a rumour, just a rumour mind, that if they knock the thing down and build a new, 96,466 seated stadium, it'll hold 96,466 people.

Once the capacity has risen to 30,500 the next stage will be to make the seats narrower to fit in another 4,500 seats.

Further to my previous post about the stadium tour, how many people have queried why the West Stand is so called when its clearly not West. Go on the tour and you will get the answer
Don't know about the geography but (with the exception of the South Stand), I've always thought that it was nicely apt that the stands at the Amex reflect in character the same stands at the Goldstone.

I think people need to chill about this transport issue. Suggesting it is 'chaotic' and 'out of control' is scare-mongering. It is 22,000 people getting out of a stadium, it is going to take a while. Have you been to Wembley or Emirates? People are just going to have to allow an hour to get away, that's life.

We are a provincial club so anything over 32,000 would be pretty unnecessary IMO. It will be soul destroying if we ever find ourselves in a 35,000 stadium in league one. Sheffield Wednesday anyone?

Hopefully we won't be back playing amongst the 'noddy clubs' (copyright Simster) anytime soon.

Indeed not, but we're only one division away from that.

I tell you what, I'd never worry about relegation from the Prem if we ever got there. The Championship is a decent league these days, characterised by big gates and a very even playing field. The nightmare is the drop is to league one, having to go to tin pot noddy outfits like Orient and Bournemouth again.

Absolutely this. 30.500 will be plenty big enough for our purposes. We are never going to be a top six club. There are plenty of teams who do well in the Premiership with gates of around 30,000.

I think that would require changes to the roof structure. So not too easy.

Apparently Celtic Park has been designed to remove the roof and add another tier to make capacity of 100,000 should there ever be a European Super League, although why they would think they would be good enough to join that god above knows!!!

Exactly when you have the likes of Man City now building a start of the art training ground with and a seven thousand seater stadium for reserve matches that is bigger that some Divison 2 clubs own grounds, and Mancini moaning that he probably needs another player when they have already spent over 200 million, you need to ask yourself, how the hell is anyone going to be able to compete.

Absolutely right. I remember getting away from the Goldstone when we had bumper 30000 plus crowds in the 70's took ages. We used to park near the bus depot through the railway bridge after Newtown Road and getting back to Seaford along the A259 even then must have taken a good hour at the best of times. That's only 15 miles. Why on earth do people think that they should just be able to Waltz away is beyond me.

I never understand this argument. For all those that "suffer" the transport problems I haven't seen anyone say they expect to "waltz out" I have ben to Emirates several times (not as a supporter by the way) and I think irt works fine given 60,000 people.

There are numerous "tweaks" the club and transportation providers can do and I hope they are but in my case I don't see it. I have to use P&R and have given up on Mill Road, now use Mithras but it pains me the time it takes to load buses, one at a time. Such things as loading multiple buses (not rocket science) better signage and stewarding (easy) and perhaps multiple pick up points aren't difficult.

Extending capacity without having the transport sorted is a No No.

As for the "waltzing out" I wish some would take a more reasoned stance to those that are finding it difficult

That is very reasonable Rugrat. I wouldn't contest that. I have seen posters complain about queuing etc but fair enough, tweaks can be made.

Know several Arsenal season ticket holders. Each Emirates game is a very long day, and despite £10m's being spent on the adjacent special station, they avoid it like the plague due to mega queues.
Another Emitares s/t holder spends fortunes on cross-north London minicab taxis, as so sick of poor transport to/from.

Arsenal are NOT an example of speedily getting away 60,000 punters.

I think if the corners get filled in, east gets another tier and north and south get another tier that's quite a few more seats!

How much are their season tickets? And where do they sit out of interest?
