Farage is the only one that is stating the truth about what is happening due to Globalisation. Starmer has got something to do with the World Economic Forum and something about the world being run by the rich. 1 in 30 people in the UK are immigrants. Farage also won't lead us into war with Putin. Farage is right that the west caused Russia to invade Ukraine as NATO ignored the Warsaw pact & the West has swallowed up the old Soviet Union. Starmer will lead us into war. Isn't it weird that everyone opened up to everyone at the same time, Australia, New Zealand etc.... this is what I've heard today from someone very intelligent.

I've already had the immigration argument with them before & said about students & dependents adding to the figures etc & the fact that people are getting Visas to prop up the NHS etc. As they bought up Australia today I pointed out that Australia is a very difficult place to migrate to, so haven't opened up to everyone at all & received some random response that Australians have real difficulty getting into this country as well. I wasn't sure where they were going with that argument?
So I switched to asking what economic policies Reform has that will help everyday people, pointing out that Farage is part of the rich elite, that went to private school & is a millionaire who made his money on the stock market. Response... all politicians promise to help everyday people and nothing changes (they didn't see the irony in what they said).
I moved onto the NHS & that Farage is giving heavy hints that he will privatise it. Response... he's not going to get into power, so it won't happen.
Farage wants to leave the ECHR that we helped set up, so what's going to happen to your kids if we leave without any guarantee that the same workers rights etc etc will be enshrined into UK Law? Response... Starmer is going to take us into war anyway, that's why Sunak called the election as he doesn't want to be the one to do it (they may have a point with that) but they didn't answer the question.

Asking them for actual evidence I was met with 'I mainly watch podcasts but something (I can't remember what it was) was published in The Independent (I suspect that may have been the 1 in 30 thing)'. I stopped the conversation as they were speaking over me anyway and said we'd have to agree to disagree.
What spins me out the most is that they used to vote Labour, then went to the Greens & now are going to vote for the Reform party. It's bizarre!! 🤷‍♀️
Tell me where they live and I'll pop over and burn their houses dawn.

(Not really. f***ing depressing, the sorts that get to vote, though. I stand by my oft proffered suggestion that voting rights be earned by examination.)

I sadly fear that a lot of our fellow citizens don't use their brains properly; they respond in a knee-jerk manner to manipulative MSM headlines and scaremongering at a purely emotional level. It's about "my feelings", reinforcing prejudices, and what they want to believe "cos I read it in The Sun, or Nigel Farage said it, and he says it like it is, except them fakkin' Lefties try to silence him, innit."

Of course, in saying this, one is likely to be denounced as an arrogant liberal elitist by the Right!

That's where we are - wealthy, privileged, public-school-educated, political charlatans, and self-serving chancers and grifters, like Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson, and Jacob Rees-Mogg, accusing their critics of being elitist, while they are, apparently, out there alongside ordinary working people (as long as those ordinary working people don't ever ask for better wages!).

Apologies but I don't have the time to leave the sort of in depth response you are looking for but in a nutshell...
ECHR. I voted to leave the EU and all it's institutions, untill we leave ECHR this cannot be achieved.
Online sales tax. I wouldn't expect it to be levied on click and collect purchases, it is primarily proposed to deal with Amazon type retailers who funnel a large proportion of their UK profits through third party countries.
Reduce business rates for small and medium size businesses.


The crux of all this is to get the economy working again from the ground up. As a country we need people to be dealing with eachother face to face. We need our town centres to be vibrant places for shopping, dining, entertaining etc. This won't happen all the time people spend their weekend their shopping online, getting takeaways and watching Netflix. Then on Monday going to work which involves lounging around the house in pyjamas with a laptop. Covid is over, wakey, wakey Britain, it's time to do some work again.

As for political journeys its quite common. If you start watching podcasts you start filling up the gaps in your knowledge and "See it all at once", a lot of people I watch can be described as center left who looked left and said Yuk! The catalyst for this is seeing through the MSM.

Don’t be lazy. It’s quite easy to look up the equivalent in other regions. I’ll give you one for a starter.

Australia is a party to the seven core international human rights treaties: the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD)

Very rich people stoking culture wars, blaming immigrants, lgbtq, women, workshy, disabled, for society’s ills, when it is simply the super rich v the poor.
Of course, they want to remove your rights, whilst smiling and promising our own British equivalent (which won’t have checks and balances)
The high street, the roads, the sewage, the crumbling schools, the failing health service (you can have access to a PA, who is hardly qualified, whilst they attend Harley Street).
The rich get richer, using our money, and we smile and say they are our mates.

It's about 15% in the UK that are "Foreign Born" which includes Boris Johnson, Nigel Farages wives and mistresses, at least a couple of his kids, and a few of the Reform candidates catalogue brides.

It’s astonishing how much money the hard right Islamophobic owner of GB News is losing per year. Millions of pounds payed out to spread his nasty propaganda. That channel hasn’t a chance of turning a profit.

Let’s hope that once elected, Sir Keir forces open the mouth of Ofcom and gives it some proper teeth so they can take action against all that disgraceful channel rather than issue just another warning. He should also kick the Tories out of the BBC and make sure it can never be led by partisan political appointees again.

In December 2023, the Tories conflated human rights with the ‘problem’ of immigration (specifically using Rwanda to host applicants for asylum) when they introduced emergency legislation to disapply parts of the UK Human Rights act and allow the UK Government to ignore judgments of the ECHR. In a statement following the introduction of the Bill , Sunak said:

“Through this new landmark emergency legislation, we will control our borders, deter people taking perilous journeys across the Channel and end the continuous legal challenges filling our courts...And we will disapply sections of the Human Rights Act from the key parts of the bill, specifically in the case of Rwanda, to ensure our plan cannot be stopped.”

From henceforth, feeble-brained members of the electorate understood that Human Rights are to blame for the Tories inability to control “illegal” immigration by stopping them from sending the great unwanted that were fleeing ethnic and religious persecution, to Rwanda, where they could wait for their applications for refugee status to be processed, peaceably and without fear in a country that had in it’s recent history, conducted a state-led genocide of it’s ethnic population. :sneaky:

It's more than 1 in 30. 1 in 30 is the proportion of the population that has arrived in the last 2 years.

But it's less than 1 in 6. 1 in 6 is the proportion of people who can be identified as "ethnic minorities", essentially people with darker skin, but the establishment will not accept them as simply "British" - however long they have lived here, they remain "ethnic minorities". Many if not most of them should be and are fully integrated British in practice, but there are vested interests making out that they are still "different" because of the colour of their skin.
