Just been told that I'm about to be made redundant. Doesn't come as a surprise as I've been well aware that the project I'm on has been going pear shaped for months, timing could be better though. There will be about thirty of us out of a job by year end.

Sorry to hear that mate, do you think you'll get a decent settlement though?

Sorry to hear that, perhaps you could start a support group asking for money from big firms, MP's and the media. There again you are most properbly not newsworthy.

Hope you get a good pay-off and wish you good luck in your job hunting.

Zilch as I've only been with this mob since June. Its no shock I can tell you but I can tell you that one very large bank has thrown away many millions of pounds ! At my age its not easy to get a job but as they say, shit happens !

On the plus side at least I don't have to worry about a family unlike several of the people I work with.

Thats tough mate.

New Year, New Start.

Nice thought but at my age its not too likely. This happened last year although that time it was in December. I guess the one annoying thing is that we were repeatedly told that our jobs were safe. Good job I'm a cynic and believe most employers to be liars.

Its far worse for the blokes with families especially the ones naive enough to believe that they did have a safe job, at least its not new to me.

I remember when the "Bank" used to be a job for life. Those were the days. :sigh:

LTSB have a habit of spunking money on stupid systems* that will never work. It is them?

I was on a fixed term contract which should have had a bonus. As it is some of us are thinking about demanding the bonus as the contract was terminated through no fault of ours.

Mind you most contracts are pretty worthless as most of us know.

Genuinely sorry to hear that Frank. Hope you find something soon.

Thank you for that. To be honest it was/still is a crap job and I did realise that it was going pear shaped. The people with the biggest problems are the guys with families especially as some of them actually believed the assertions that our jobs were safe.

To be fair I've been paid on a regular basis and never had any problems claiming my fairly large expenses despite the fact that I have only once worked a full day (and I was on overtime then) and in truth I have not worked half the days I've been paid for.

Wasn't my choice but sadly there's a lot of people far worse off than me and as my trip to the Philippines is all covered I'm not exactly heart broken !
