"It was a very emotional game. Lots of ups and downs. The key was we stayed together, we stayed calm, we tried to find solutions."

"They had a big chance hitting the post, but then I thought we were controlling the game. The penalty was out of nowhere. We played with a lot of courage, we had some small chances and then after we conceded we showed a brilliant reaction."

"We focused on our solutions, staying clam. In the second half we were very dominant. We suffered a little bit when we received the red card, but overall it was a great performance."

On Danny Welbeck and Solly March:

"Two special players, very helpful to have them in the team. They are great characters, they are hard workers, they have a lot of experience and it is important to have them in the squad."

On winning five in a row:

"We can only win something if we stay together and that's what we must focus on. In football there is not a lot of momentum, but we have to understand why it's like this at the moment. It is important to stay grounded and keep doing the basic things."

On possibly reaching Wembley:

"They [fans] can dream, and we can work."

Away with the fairies
Eddie Howe on Anthony Gordon's red card

"There were a lot of bodies" - No there wasn't (well, yeah there was after he did it)
"He didn't mean any harm" - ummm yes he did.

The ref had just blown for the offside when Gordon ran off with it, so at the very least he was delaying the free kick.
He got what he deserved, enjoy watching the Carabao final.

Tell you what, I couldn’t give a monkeys toss who we get next. Our name is on that cup. Look at that squad. All the subs made and the team is not weakened at all.

He’s a legend. He’s quite clearly the best forward we’ve ever had. 150 appearances and close to our leading Premier League goal scorer. Not much more he can do.
People of a certain age go on about Peter Ward. How many games did he play for us in the top flight? It’s different levels. We are absolutely blessed to have him.
In my lifetime he is up there with the best including Robinson and Worthington. Best free transfer ever.

I'm never really confident well win any game but I've just got this constant feeling this is the year we have to buy a bigger trophy cabinet,a good game and I reckon we'll win it by the 1 goal late on with Dat Man doing the business again.
Come on guys let's do this 😁

Who will we draw in the next round?

Danny Welbeck

"It is nice to come here to St James' Park, such a special atmosphere. The fans made it an amazing atmosphere - great to get the winner, again."

"I feel like we played well. We know when we come up against Newcastle that it's going to be an intense game. They have some dangerous players with some great ability, and we have to match that, and we did that today and come out on top."

"When you're on the bench you have to analyse the game and see where you can make a difference and today that's what we did. You see Joao Pedro at the end struggling to run. He gave so much and I believe that's what gave us the winner."

Going back to Welbeck, he’s quite clearly adored at the club. The role model for younger pros, an exceptional physical specimen, a lovely guy, the constant ability to amaze.
How many people said ‘Danny will win this’ today? And we knew. You just know with him. Has he been wasteful in his career? Yes, he’s never been an out and out goalscorer but his attitude and all round ability are almost unrivalled in this league.
Sometimes supporters (of all teams) get a bit hyperbolic about players but Danny truly deserves all of it. The guy is just a dream and I really think if we hadn’t signed him we wouldn’t be where we are today.
