[Other Sport] *NEW YEARS EVE*

Been a few bugs about in our house over Xmas so I think horse racing with the family in the Warwick then home for dinner and just silly games with them. Bit like a Covid night in. My kids are 16 year old lad and twin 14 year old daughters so probably the last year they will be in with us before wanting to get wasted somewhere. The lad was planning on going to a party but has had shingles over Xmas so is happy chilling out with the boring old people.

I used to love NYE as a yoof. Then until I was about 27 then I started hating it. Just give me a night in with family and mates. Far better than pubs with bell ends.

It is my most miserable night of the year.

I absolutely hate it.

The TV is utter shite. Going out is crowded and expensive and may need organising in advance.

I love the magic of Christmas - New Year's Eve is such a come down.

Dreading it.
You don't have to go out. Stay home, get some nice food in, watch a good film, and get pissed. What's not to like?

Don't really get this. You don't HAVE to go out, or try to make a big thing of it. I'm very much in the "been there, done that" brigade when I used to head out somewhere and get trollied. And I don't really need the TV to make my night. I'm perfectly happy at home grazing on the leftover Christmas scoff with a few beers, a glass of port and some cheese.

A couple of years ago we had the sister in law round with her hubby and just played cards all night. Lovely!

Its simply what you make of it.

True, I'll end up watching The Expanse and downing wine.

But the bigging up of the day, the incessant mind-numbingly dull reviews of the year that cause me to dive for the off button, the hype - the dreaded god awful hype - the long, long wait for a delivery curry to be cooked and actually delivered. The feeling of mortality. The sands of time. 1 more year chalked off my allocation :(

Depressing.

Totally hate it.

Eagerly awaiting @dwayne on this thread.

I fully expect him to be rappelling down the side of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, before dropping into an open Limo sunroof containing Kylie Minogue, Kevin Costner and Stephen Mulhern, then being whisked away for an all-night party on Elon Musk's super-yacht in the harbour, with champagne on tap.

Don't let me down x

For any boring farts who are actually staying the BBC has the choice of Queen of the Dancefloor Sophie Ellis Bextor, Scottish rock icon Marti Pellow and Jools' annual recorded hootenanny.

Can you believe it’s my wedding anniversary NYE. 42 years this year. It seemed like a good idea back in 1982. At least I can’t forget the date. Anyway, we’re off to London and the ballet at the Royal Albert Hall tomorrow afternoon … followed by meal at a Lebanese restaurant and home by midnight to see the NY in with Jools (Holland … not Mrs PGTips).

Not sure yet…….kayaking mid-day, probably end up having a late seafood lunch after that beside the beach before the carnage in the local town starts (saw a taste of what’s likely on Saturday when they had their annual ‘wine walk’ :lolol: ) and have a nice bottle of wine and some snacks back at the apartment

If we were at home we wouldn’t go out either, everywhere overcrowded, overpriced and anywhere serving food charging double for way below usual quality. Bah ****ing humbug.

I was at the same party as Elon musk and leo in Miami a few weeks ago during 'art basel'. That's about as close as I get to that story. Was tempted by St Barth's and Punta Del Este for nye but couldn't be bothered in the end and just having a humble meal at Zuma tomorrow night !

Looking after the grand kids, so a curry at home and a few beers. The thought these days of going out and seeing kids and twenty somethings puking in the street as they have bladders the size of golf balls really ain't my scene. Moved away from that 30 years ago and don't regret it at all.

Sadly New Years eve has become over-hyped with restaurants charging stupid prices to stupid people willing to pay for a microwave meal and shit service.

Leaving that for the punters with more money than sense.

Potentially a takeaway at home and a healthy amount of water to wash it down. Can’t beat waking on NYD feeling fresh 👍

I’m out but as others said, it’s all hype really and rather stay home. Enjoy watching the fireworks on tele mind, but not the woke messaging drivel that now accompanies it: why not just stick some Jean Michel Jarre on and let the spectacular display do its own talking as it used to? Same goes for all stadium announcers. Just STFU please. It’s not about you.
