I'm happy we've signed someone, but whenever I've seen him play he's looked crap!:nono:

Ah well, time will tell.

He did score that cracking goal against us at Priestfield.

On a pedantic note, why can't the official site spell 'complement' ?

Good signing in my book, another loan though? Maybe and I'm hoping it could be to a permanent move as he's been on loan to a couple of clubs and probably has no chance at Leicester. But what if after the months loan we get an end of season loan for him, Leicester get relegated - Ferdinand retires - you get the picture!

Still for the short term its good in my book.

Height and some physical presence is what we have been lacking up front all season. Big Trev can be no worse than Henderson (but hopefully 10 times better!). He is going to take a lot of pressure off Knight, and I hope provide the flick on's and knock downs that Knight will thrive on. I don't care if he scores few goals, just as long as his presence up front allows others to score!

Call me a perfectionist I'm not sure about this.

1) His scoring record doesn't seem that great. This was when Tayor was in charge and flashed the money about to buy his old Gillingham side. £1.5m for 46 goals in 146 games seems a tad excessive! That's only 14-15 goals a season. McPhee would be on track for that!

2) Is it just me or are we all getting a little fed up of all this damn loaning! Is it too much to ask, when we pay our money, to watch our own players rather than other people's cast offs?

For me I would much rather we spent money on ONE creative midfielder (some old hat who has 2-3 years left in him). Spend this season getting the same players playing together as a team and next season making a promotion push?

The likes of McPhee and Robinson need time in the first team to gel and mature. They're not going to get any better than they are already in the reserves. As with Falmer we need to think long term. We're not going to go down this season and unless we win the next 11 games on the trot we won't be up amoungst the leaders. So it's the perfect time to work on the PERMINANT side for next season.

For me we need;

Knight/Piercy McPhee/Robinson

Jones NEW MIDFIELDER Chippy OGH

Mayo Butters Cullip Hinshelwood/Virgo

Roberts/Kuipers

For me loan players should be there to cover injuries and bulk up a thin squad. They should not be used as first team regulars.

IMHO of course.

Agree with your sentiment but that way we wouldn't get loan players that were any good. Managers don't let players go out on loan as cover they let them go to sharpen them up with first team football.
Any loan player happy to come as a reserve would be rubbish.

I was hoping that it would be Roberts, but you can't complain about Benjamin. His loan signing is a definite improvement to our forward line up.

Unfortunately Lammy one of the reasons loan players come is to get regular first team football so they have priority. Wrong I agree.

I do agree with your team line up although El-Abd would edge it from Hinshelwood IMO

Not quite what I meant. They would mainly be used to cover injury. Say if Chippy gets injured and he isout for 1 month. We would get a loan player in who would get 1st team football. Towards the end Rehman was warming the bench a lot.

Trouble is with signing players straight away, take Trevor (great name) for example, what if he does turn out to be shit...if we signed him we'd be stuck with him, good job we did'nt sign Henderson!

Maybe the 1 month loan is view to a permanent move ala Leon.

Well, if it has to be just a month's loan, there won't be a better month all season to have that month's worth cos of the QPR/Barnsley/Plymouth games we've got coming up. Might just save the season.

Sounds good to me, he will be the one to get on the end of Knight's crosses when he is playing on the left again!:lolol: :clap2: :nono:

i hope benjamim doesnt take mcphee's place in the starting line up as he is the better player IMO.

and not knocking mcghee at all for bringing in players, but as lammy said, i dont think the front is where we need it most...

The fact is, Benjamin is playing for a full time contract. Leicester are looking to release him - he does not figure in long-term plans and if he is a success, I am sure Norm's money will ensure he is a permanent fixture.

Yes he was but he was played when he first arrived then gave the manager an excuse to drop him based on injury / illness and then his performances.

Dont forget theres still 1 or 2 more loanees to come in according to McPhee the other day, that Spurs lad Dean Marney (was it) was tipped, maybe they are for other area's.

Also is anyone else concerned by McGhee continually harping on about needing a big centre forward to knock the ball down for Knight?

If the ball was played along the floor through midfield as it is supposed to rather than hoofed up front from defence then this wouldn't be as necessary!

Don't get me wrong with all this 'moaning' I'm really chuffed with this loan signing. I'm just concerend about the pattern of loaning and losing we seem to have got into. After we signed Knight we should have go all out to sign a decent midfielder (sorry but they're not cheap) to supply our strikers. I really don't think our team is that bad. What they're missing is a few basics and the chance to play with the same team each week.

No, what about in the Premiershit where loan signing are playing for teams against their clubs.

What about Milner who performed so well against us for Swindon?

If you can get players on loan like Benjamin of course they should go straight into the team, especially in our situation.

I think he's gonna do very well for us and should free up a lot of space for Leon to work his magic, i expect Yeates will enjoy himself on saturday too.

But with Roger and Blackwell to come back at some point in the 2nd half of the season why get a new midfielder, or don't you think Charlie deserves a chance in the first team for a bit ?
