Good signing in my book, another loan though? Maybe and I'm hoping it could be to a permanent move as he's been on loan to a couple of clubs and probably has no chance at Leicester. But what if after the months loan we get an end of season loan for him, Leicester get relegated - Ferdinand retires - you get the picture!

Still for the short term its good in my book.

I suggest we get behind him and make him feel we want him to stay, he may be on loan today but tomorrow he may want to say as did our Leon!!!

:clap2: :clap2:

We need loan-ees to stimulate competition for places, not just cover for injuries. Our long standing incumbents like Hart, Carpenter, Jones, Watson, Mayo and even Cullip could all benefit from having someone to compete for their shirt against.
I'd agree with Lammy if our players were on top-form and we were playing well as a team, but we're not.
So bring on Big Trev, and another one to replace Yeates too.

But with Roger and Blackwell to come back at some point in the 2nd half of the season why get a new midfielder, or don't you think Charlie deserves a chance in the first team for a bit ?

Give Charlie a chace in the first team? Are you having a laugh? He's been with us for 4years in the first team. How many games do you need to see a player to see if he's any good?

Oatway is a good squad play and man marker. i.e. When Pompey came down he was given the job of marking Merson out of the game. He did a good job. As for knocking the ball about and making through balls he is not the player we need. If he could take free kicks it wouldn't be so bad but he can't.

Don't you think they'd play better if they had the chance to play with the same players each week? Rather than Rehman, Yeates, Henderson, Benjimen etc...

If Man Utd offered to loan out 11 players for us that would obviously be better than our current starting line up would you take it?

Loan players are a quick fix and not a long term solution. Ok they are a great way of covering injuries or giving a trial to. Not as temporary first team players. If the lower divisions didn't loan as many players, Prem teams would not be able to keep such huge squads. Thus freeing up more PERMINANT talent to the lower divisions.

He's not always consistent, but I have seen Oatway have some terrific games for us and welcome him back with open arms. I think him, chippy and one other (possibly new) signing in the team or Rodger when he comes back would be very effective.

On a pedantic note, why can't the official site spell 'complement' ? [/B][/QUOTE]

Perhaps the site meant compliment - he wont score any goals but will be really nice to Leon who will be happy and therefore score more?

Will Rodger be back by the end of the season? I have my doubts if he's had a serious knee injury. We certainly miss him.

isn't that central midfield role piercy's favourite position? so with yeates gone piercy could slot in. attacking central midfielder with an eye for goal? who needs paul scholes

I'd like to see that tried at least!

Well there is one problem. We only have one short term loan deal between now and the end of the season unless we sign one of these players permanently in which case they become free again. Given that we are highly unlikely to sign Rehman, Yeates, Flitney or Henderson that leaves only Benjamin. Therefore we have a maximum of 2 loan deals between now and the end of the season and possibly 1.

Who was the Complete GOON who said it was Roberts.

Thanks for getting my hopes up only to be left with some goal in five numpty - Chris McPhee can do that.

Physical Pressence - Great!

We don't need a prolific goalscorer (although one would be nice). We already have one of those in Knight. What we need is someone with a presence up front, will hold the ball up and link well with Leon. Whilst I am becoming a McPhee fan as he works hard, has done quite well, he still needs to work on his link play and holding the ball up. I think Benjamin will provide that.
