Yes I know - just venting my spleen as to why after nearly 14 years this problem still hasn’t been resolved. :shrug:
i would guess a major part of the cause is 30 000 people leaving one place at the same time with one railway station. There simply is no method of moving that many people in short space of time. . Hence the attempt to stagger at least some people leaving by building the fan bar.

Last two times we were at Wembley it took hours to get out and moving for exactly the same reason. Yet very few moaned that after nearly 20 years the FA hadn't fixed the problem.
The issue isn't the club not wanting to fix it, its a case of there is only so much that can be fixed

I see a lot of posts demanding the club do something, Ive yet to see a single workable solution offered.

Have the bridge over the a27 properly stewarded or policed to stop people picking up their idiot families would ease the car parking congestion.

Must be reason why the club can’t get this enforced.

For me the major problem, as you allude to is that in terms of the trains the demand outstrips capacity which creates a big logjam at the end of games

It's unlikely that train capacity can really be expanded- there are a finite amount of trains that can be provided, so the answer is to reduce demand

It's less of an issue at the beginning and end of seasons for Saturday 3pm games as more people are happy to stay around for a bit- the new fanzone will improve this. However for evening games or when the weather is crap I can't see it making a huge amount of difference

So another solution is to provide an alternative transport method. when the amex opened and we were getting crowds of 20,000 ish there were 3 sites for park and ride...Mill Road, Racecourse and Mithras House

Our crowds are now 30,000+...that is an extra TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE and we've lost Mithras House.

We have Portland road but only for weekend games so irrelevant for mid week.

So one solution would be to expand P&R capacity with at least one extra site. We need more capacity than when the stadium opened not less

For me, and others along the West Sussex coast getting home after a midweek game is very stressful. There's a lot of us and we are forced to make a mad rush for quite small and not overly frequent connecting trains once we finally get to Brighton station . Trains to the north are more frequent and going East there isn't the problem of having to connect at Brighton.

One option would be to have a P&R site in West Sussex. Would the training ground work in that respect? It's pretty easy to get to for a lot of people and close to the a27. I would also propose another site in B&H to replace what we lost from Mithras House closing.

Another option is to increase car park facilities SOMEHOW (I don't know how this would work- not easily I suspect)

And finally my final suggestion would be to run shuttle buses from the amex into central Brighton. Logistically I'm not sure what the best place to run them from and to would be but it would give another option to the B&H based fans at least

Part of the problem is the lack of any decent P&Rs in Brighton as a whole. Other towns/cities have several, Brighton has one only, and not a good one at that. If we had them, they could be used, but it probably means tarmacking over parts of the Downs to get them.

PS: ALbion have been getting average crowds of 27K+ for well over a decade now and 30K+ for over 7 years now so the club have had a long long time to consider this and they've shared multiple planning applications in this period supporting increased capacity which have all been waived through so i guess they've definitely persuaded the council they are doing what they can. All of those proposals outline at length how they are mitigating transport worries.

It appears their responses have been - we should invest in tactics to stagger arrival/exit time (eg: The fanzone) . As i guess extra P&R, changing how train companies work , more car parks and shuttle buses - which i'm sure have been on the agenda for well over a decade are still sitting there ruled out as either not financially feasible, practical or sufficient enough to make a difference to solve this problem.

If only they'd come on here and find out about the monorail but it appears bizarrely they haven't. Yet.

Best option would be making the left hand lane a bus lane.
Would speed up the P&R buses as well as ensuring that no cars stopped there

Best option would be closing the slip roads from the A27 to anyone other than P&R buses. That would help clear the Uni Car Park much quicker and reduce congestion so the buses from the Amex can leave quicker too.
