i think its unlikely Bloom will let Biss & Ben go. My money is on Biss leaving.

I'm with you on this. Bissouma has just two years left on his contract, no intention of extending it, and maybe reached the point where we get the best value from him by selling him now.
Ben has a longer contract and another year will probably increase his value. Plus, to lose both at one point would potentially be a step too far for us. Hopefully we can bat off any offers on Ben, knowing that a nice £50m will be coming in next season. Gives us plenty of time to plan for a replacement.

If it's a straight choice between the 2 for the same money.
I'd prefer it was White who left.

It'll be as much driven by what the players want as the club choosing - Biss only has 2 years left on his contract, so will be allowed to leave if that's what he wants because we won't get anything like as much for him if we wait until next summer. Doubt the club will gamble on selling him in the January window.

The difference between Dunk and White is that Dunk, whilst our best CB by a distance, is at the very peak of his powers.

This has only been Ben’s first PL season. He hasn’t even come close to his ceiling yet, such huge potential, hence the estimated transfer fee. All these big clubs are being linked with him for a reason.

As I was saying here the other day, if Ben leaves, there’s no chance he’s going to Leeds. It is slightly surprising that Webster is so under the radar though.

This is the reason for the interest yet.

Ben has had a stunning first season and improves week on week.

He'll obviously be a fine player for a European level club in the coming years

Brighton factually.....

Hang on, if we wait another year, I would expect closer to 65 million if his performances go the way everyone is predicting.
Maguire 80 million, Ben is already a better proposition than that lumbering fool.

He's done OK. 6/7 out of 10. Plenty of scope/potential.

Depends how much other clubs are willing to gamble on that potential. £30m+ seems very high to me.

Eh? Bielsa confirmed that Leeds offered £30m for him last year and we turned that down ... and that was before he'd played a minute of PL football. After a year of doing pretty well, his value would certainly have gone up. I can't see Albion letting him go for under £50m (and I'm not sure that would be enough, we have no need to sell and he's on a long contract)

I didn't see anything that they went beyond £25m? I thought they bid 18m, 20m then 25m. Might have been 'add-ons' I suppose. Even then, not sure the 25m was ever confirmed. Perhaps Bielsa playing a little with the truth.

Exactly. He's good enough to play the defensive midfield role if Bissouma leaves, maybe with Gross or Propper, or Moder, he's good enough to cover for Dunk. He's quick, strong and doesn't muind getting stuck in, as we saw on SUnday.

White is still learning and improving. Hopefully we get to see that for at least another year.

So he's now been linked with Europa League semi-finalists, Champions League semi-finalists and some of the richest, most successful teams in the Premier League.

Can't wait to hear from some of the deluded Leeds fans about how they're bigger than all of them...

It'll be interesting to see on who they spend their share of the transfer fee.

This might be controversial but has White done enough to justify the alleged interest from bigger clubs? He has been good and of course any buyer is investing in his future potential, but personally I think he's still riding on the rave reviews of his Leeds days which were in the Championship. I could see some of the bigger boys wanting to monitor a second season before laying out a big fee.

I really hope he stays and I think we can all agree that Bissouma is the likely departure.

His being English makes him an instantly appealing prospect for the big English clubs.

I kind of agree - he has been decent and clearly has a lot of potential, but he has played in a few positions this season which is and isn't a good thing. Also seen a few mistakes from him which is understandable, but the Palace home game was pretty big - and he did similar thing in the Wolves game which went unpunished. The thing that may work in the big clubs favour is his value is unlikely to change much if he has a decent second season as well, so perhaps they will wait. At the end of the day he probably has a price and if that valuation is met he will go, if not he won't

Yes he has.

Bar a few mistakes early in the season when he was understandably getting used to the Premier League, he has been brilliant. I was a little unsure after those early games but he has kicked on massively.

He has so much class, his reading of the game and positioning is excellent and he has got physically stronger as the season has gone, very rarely gets bullied anymore like he did a couple of times early in the season. He's also got a turn of pace which helps him recover. His heading has got better and he is obviously very comfortable on the ball, some lovely short and long passes and also good running with the ball.

He's also only 23 which is still very young for a centre back and he's already one of the best in the league. I have been massively impressed and think he's got better and better as the season's gone on, definitely think he will be recognised as England's best centre back in the near future.

We know Bissouma is off, so if there was a possibility Ben White would be sold this summer too then wouldn't it have been better to have sold White last summer and used the money to have bought a decent striker?

Ben White and Bissouma have both had great seasons but even so we are likely to finish 17th and will have one - if not two - holes in our 1st XI. This is hardly going to be attractive to prospective signings.

If you are going to have to sell players then sell one per season, not none then two.

You almost sound like the deluded Leeds fans there [emoji6]

“wouldn't it have been better to have sold White last summer and used the money to have bought a decent striker?”

Which striker? How does that solve the problem of wage budgets? (We allegedly couldn’t go for Watkins as he would break our wage cap).

You’re making the leap that without selling Ben we couldn’t have a striker. The Nunez saga suggests the club had the money for the right player. And then we signed Lallana, Welbs, the Polish boys and Moises so clearly there was money to spend.

In conclusion: selling Ben White in the summer to Leeds for £30m would have been a calamitous decision for footballing and business reasons.
