Not sure Jack Albion making the point that PB prefers Corporates over riff raff warrants an essay of debate. All he did was state the obvious. Nobody insulted Barber even, let alone Tony Bloom.

Depends how you define riff raff? If you mean morons that get coked up and/or behave to the extent they get arrested then I'm inclined to lean towards corporate. However the vast majority of fans, particularly away fans don't behave like that yet still contribute to a great atmosphere and I would suggest PB is happy with those.

See Rolland attended yesterday and put together a decent VBlog.

He seems to have a regular home ticket in the Police Box area and also seems to get to most away games, will be interesting to see if he has acquired a Bournemouth ticket

Surely the club can identify the Liverpool fans in the away end from the photos. Can’t believe they bought tickets legitimately, why would a STH spend so much time and money following the Albion, to get the neccessary loyalty points to buy four seats together at the front? And presumably they got these tickets fairly early doors / tier 1, as the side and back seats are more restricted so would go last. Someone has given four tickets away to Liverpool fans. Sorry that could have been the Scouse Seagulls who have followed the Albion for 30 years at places like Wrexham, Tranmere, Shrewsbury, Bolton, Chester, Blackpool, Leeds, Preston, Oldham etc. etc. or anyone of the hundreds of genuine Brighton fans who missed out yesterday. If the club wants to do pre match checks, how about some post match checks too, starting with finding out who bought those four tickets on the front row.

Thought on the TV something looked odd at the front. Man and kid and couple to the side not celebrating we scored - ****ing appalling. So how did these plastic scousers get tickets… club should look and find out. Unless they’re player tickets - in which case 2 months wages fine please… ridiculous this can happen.

Sharon Duce (Big Deal) bottom right, doesn’t look too happy and although the lad in front of the now third kit isn’t celebrating, it’s probably more to do with how pissed he is

I get your point. However, short of defining the acceptable level of celebration required what do you expect the club to do ? The new regulations will make passing on tickets a riskier activity so that should cover it. I did mention before that this game did go to Albion + so you could have bought tickets albeit not great ones because of the people passing them on.

He looks like he’s clapping, but I think he was probably opening tins at around 7AM on a train leaving Brighton yesterday

I’ve mentioned in an earlier post that we are a group of four and we get to 3-4 NW away games a season, so only have purchase history. The only game that would make Albion+ worthwhile is Liverpool away, we’d be effectively paying double assuming tickets even became available. Anyway regarding your main point, the fact that four fans sitting together not celebrating means it might be worth the club spot checking who bought those tickets / seats, then maybe contacting the person responsible for their distribution. No way have they got those tickets via the loyalty scheme.

Well, hopefully going forwards there will be more tickets available at lower tiers. I disagree with you about Albion +. Three of us are members and will be ahead of you for tickets for Liverpool, Everton, Man U, Man C and Leeds (the five nearest aways). Choosing not to become members to save the members fee is your choice but it does come with risk. If you are relying on people passing/selling tickets to you so jumping ahead of the queue then we are probably on different sides of this debate.

I sat in home end at Anfield with business contacts. which I often do at away games. Does take gloss off but I stood for Liverpool goals and although very hard, especially last one, I stayed seated for ours.

We’ve bought United and City this season on purchase history, and will easily get tickets for Everton, Leeds and other places too, Wolves for example. Last season we also went to Burnley. The only game for us where Albion+ makes a difference is Liverpool away and last season I think it sold out to STHs. My brother in law is a very well connected Brighton supporter who has offered me Director’s box tickets in the past, I’ve also bought tickets in the past on the day, when fans arrive with a spare ticket due to illness etc. but if the club don’t want this to happen then we’re happy to just queue up with our purchase history. UTA.

Hopefully more away tickets available at Anfield next season with the new stand at the Anfield Road End. Whilst browsing to find that new capacity I found this;

Not really in reply to you but to those saying it’s only the Albion bringing in collections at away grounds. Seems not.

This is purely for European games, which teams like Manchester United have been doing for sometime.
A bit of a chicken and egg situation in terms travel date and accommodation if you don't want to book until you know you have secured a ticket, unless that can be updated once you have secured a ticket and then booked travel and accommodation.

Yes, it is for European games but the logic is similar to the new BHA regulations and it’s not a stretch to see it extended to PL games;

‘ The new collection plan is aimed to improve safety and security, with host clubs knowing exactly who’s in the stadium. It will also ensure the maximum number of supporters will be able to see the Reds on their European travels.

The club will review the use of NFC technology following this trial.

Its desire to continue with collections in host cities is to ensure the maximum number of fans are in away stadiums to support the team and adhering to best practice safety and security guidance.

Across the six Champions League away games last season, more than 15 per cent of the general admission allocation was left empty, meaning supporters purchased the tickets but didn’t attend the games.

Some European countries have also made it law that all tickets have the name of the individual fan printed on them. Many Champions League clubs have moved to full ticket collections in host European cities for the same reasons, including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester United.’

Does anyone else really think that Brighton out of any of the premier league clubs, owned by Tony Bloom - a lifelong fan, a club that insists that the history of the club/saved by its fans is instilled into every player, new manager before they walk through the door, or even season tickets, unlike others, didn't go up this year, last year , or the year before doesn't care about fans. This is a minor rule change for a club that won't matter for 99% of us, most of whom think a loyalty scheme to get difficult to get away tickets is very fair - but even if you do think its unfair, an inconvenience and outrageous - to then leap to the idea that the club couldn't care less about fans and that Tony Bloom or Paul Barber or Supporter Services or anyone else at the club - don't care for anyone other than those who have paid a few grand for a box is quite the leap. Can we tone down the rhetoric for what is at most a 1-2 minute conversation with an Albion member of staff who then hands you back an envelope.

Well the crux of the issue is still that they won’t step down from the fact that 1901 club members can pass on tickets, there is one rule for them and one rule for the other. Also maybe read things a bit nuanced in that I’m not questioning the entire identity of the club, by suggesting that one policy is very poor and I don’t like it. If you actually read back I said the club got unwarranted stick for allocations last season. I’ve had some bad interactions with supporter services and some good. The club are not immune from criticism, in my opinion this policy is wrong, and that’s why I discussed in on here. Some people agree some people (clearly you) don’t.

Problem is some people just seem to find issue with a lot of things young fans like myself have to say about the club, I don’t like the fact that to go watch a football match I need ID, in a world where surveillance is ever increasing and ridiculous restrictions put on supporters (like why can’t we drink on a coach). I’ve often praised some of barbers decisions on here, and on Twitter, but the moment I say something not pro-club, it like I personally hate Tony Bloom. One thing that does annoy me about Brighton is often a huge amount of Gatekeeping goes on to younger people because they didn’t go to the goldstone or something (I went once when I was 5 months old), people are young and have new opinions and it doesn’t make anyone a better or worse fan than anyone else. There often seems to be persistent attitude that everyone under the age of 30 is some coke fuelled nutjob, which the vast majority are not.

What’s the policy that is wrong ? How loyalty points are allocated. ? Tiering ? Enforcing that ? Sanctions if you break those rules ?
Presumably all of it. ?
I think I merely suggested that this enforcement of long standing rule in how hard to get away tickets was now being enforced this meant the club favoured corporate fans over everybody else - “the crux of it “ as you put it and didn’t care about anyone else was perhaps an overreaction.

The thing is when you say your rights are being infringed you are speaking to a generation who were frogmarched between railway stations and grounds in enforced police escorts, often kept in grounds for ages after the final whistle eg Portsmouth where we spent an hour or so in the lane behind the away end waiting for the police to allow us out, had to watch games through fences, at one stage needed ID cards and were generally treated like shit. Many of us give short shrift to the idea that having to collect a ticket at an away ground represents anything at all in comparison, particularly as many of us have done exactly that in the past without the luxury of dedicated Albion stewards handing out the tickets outside the away end.

Everything I say will clearly be an issue for you, so is there any point responding? I don’t like that it is being enforced for one group and not the other, and I don’t like that people are having assumed guilt. Is that ok? You don’t agree with that and that’s fine, I imagine you probably won’t question my belief of whether the club do good, based on that.

There you go bingo, a “this generation” comment, sorry I forgot that everyone younger is entitled and a lesser weak generation.
