Well that'll depend on what happens on the pitch in subsequent seasons innit. The empty seats (that are now becoming a common sight at home games) makes me wonder.

Indeed, but promotion to the premiership would seal it I believe.

Would make sense to link the roundabout back to Bennets Field and provide a second entrance to the stadium. But that is on Lewes District Council land....

Also I remember a local cabbie asking me a while back if there were plans for hotels etc there. I almost laughed at him & said something like 'we had enough problems getting the stadium approved'. Shows what I know.

If these plans really do have to be approved by a Green led administration (though I know planning committees are cross party) and the LDC these plans surely have a snowball in hell's chance?

The Green Party are fully aware that in Brighton you should not piss off:

1. The Older People
2. The Gays
3. The Students
4. Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club

So make it a SAGA endorsed, gay friendly hotel with student accommodation and planning permission is assured.

Joking aside (although it was a senior Green who told me the above) What the Albion want they will get. Unless, of course, there is doubt amongst the rank and file supporters. Such as a few on here today.

People obviously do!

What most people seem to be ignoring is they'll be another bar by the football ground which has got to be a good thing!

Can't believe anyone is surprised by this move. Was obviously going to happen despite the club categorically denying it during the planning phase.

These complexes need to operate 365 days a year not just 25 to make them viable. Expect casinos, multi plex cinema, bowling alley, ice rink, shops to be next on the agenda.

There starts our problems again. Seemed to be no objections on there part allowing a stinking great incinerator in Newhaven, and they didn't seem to care about the sewage treatment works in Peacehaven. They only start battles with people they think they can win against. I'm more concerned that LDC supply us proper bins for our recycling because the current offerings are crap.

There must be plenty of areas around the stadium prime for development, whether it’s student accommodation or private residential. Tony Bloom may have the club’s best interests at heart but he’s also a businessman with a wealth of experience in property, he’ll be well aware that local resident’s perception of the area has changed post Amex and that people will be much more accepting of further developments and I have no doubt he’ll take advantage of an under developed area on the outskirts of the city.

A large entertainment complex with a cinema, large bars and the likes of nandos ect in the vicinity would seem un thinkable 4 years ago but once a hotel and other developments have popped up they’ll be no limits IMO.

Well, the stadium's built now, so rows over a hotel development will be low on my stress calculator. I always thought one would be built, though, and maybe I'd use it sometime, though I'd have preferred if a room with a duck pond view had been possible.

And of course, whilst it is some way from the centre of town, there is a very good rail link.

Jury's Inn might not like it.

Not so.

Bennett's Field is privately owned. The Bennett family may wish to develop it - but they may not.

After that, the land runs out, and is under the planning control of the South Downs National Park Authority. Then planning consent for this sort of development would be nigh on impossible.
