Should have come off after he shot wide soon after half time and put his head in hands.

I never like to dig players out and very rarely do and have been a big Maupay supporter despite his recent performances but very poor today, I never had any confidence that he was putting that penalty away. Should be Trossard on pens all day long for me..

However I can cope with his performance on the pitch today, it’s what I expected and it’s what he duly delivered..

What I’m really struggling to accept is his complete refusal to acknowledge the crowd after he was subbed. The fact that he got a standing ovation from the North Stand and the crowd singing his name completely baffled me because he was woeful but if I was him I wouldn’t have believed my luck, having done nothing to earn that type of reception… the fact that he didn’t look up or make any acknowledgment was very poor and not a good reflection on him at all!

I’m actually beyond the point that I’m pissed off with it all anymore just cannot wait for this season to end..

The North Stand applaud his name and he looks down covering his face. Disrespectful. No wonder fans get on his back. Ok may have been disappointed being sub'd but walk past your vocal fans and ignore them. Find another club.

It wasn’t just the north.

Lower West too. I can forgive him a bit because he looked really down, but you can’t criticise the fans if they chant a players name and then same player completely ignores them.

No, the man knew he had a stinker. NP is at least honest and has admitted before where he feels he has underperformed. In any job, if you know you haven’t performed well it’s only natural to be disheartened. The applause from the crowd (myself included) was good but I personally am not expecting an acknowledgement immediately after he’s been subbed and knows he could have done better.

Since he didnt look up maybe he wasnt entirely aware?

Dont know what it looked like from the stands but on TV his facial expression really told a story, was clear that he felt he had ruined the day for everyone.

NP wasn't aware he was walking past his own fans?

No but not aware of the standing ovation perhaps? Sometimes when people do something and I look in another direction, I'm not fully aware of what the people are doing. Could be the same for Neal Maupay.

If I was embarrassed with my performance I would probably also avoid eye contact with people and if I heard applauds and stuff I wouldnt be sure if it was genuine or if I was being mocked.

Geez some of the comments re ignoring fans are quite frankly cringeworthy …sure be miffed over the penalty miss….I’d concentrate on giving credit to the fans who applauded..as I did

You Wally. He felt he’d let the world down never mind us, that’s why he didn’t acknowledge us and was head bowed. Jeeez, do you lack emotional intelligence? Did you honestly believe he was snubbing us?!

Exactly…unfortunately that’ll float over the heads of some who are a little too precious

Happy to stand by what I said, it’s a game of opinions and I’m absolutely happy with my opinion. Certainly doesn’t make me a Wally or lacking in emotional intelligence you twit.

It just appears that we have differing opinions on the situation
