Vanished from the club site. I had a quick look and it had a piece confirming Navarro, Poke & Gonzalez had been released. I go back 5 mins later and it's gone!

Anyone else notice?

Albion have released midfielder Alan Navarro and goalkeepers Michael Poke and David Gonzalez.
Manager Gus Poyet advised the trio of his decision this week, and told seagulls.co.uk it was a difficult decision to make, but believes it is the right move for all parties.
He said, "No manager likes giving players this sort of news, but especially when it is to three excellent professionals - but I believe it is the right decision for everyone.
"Alan has had an exceptional season and proved himself at this level, but as a club we are very well covered in that position.
"With that in mind it was difficult to offer him another contract, but I'm sure he will have no shortage of offers."
Peter Brezovan and Casper Ankergren both have a year left on their contracts, leaving Gonzalez and Poke in a similar position.
"If circumstances we different we may have offered David or Michael something, but they will find it difficult to play next season so it is right for both of them and the club that they establish themselves somewhere they have a chance of regular football."
Navarro joined Albion from MK Dons in 2009 and racked up a total of 85 appearances in all competitions for the club.
Poke signed for Albion in August 2010 and made one senior appearance for Poyet's side and spent the second half of the 2011/12 season on loan at League Two Bristol Rovers.
While Gonzalez left Manchester City to sign for Albion on a short-term contract during the January transfer window; since then he has made two senior appearances.
Poyet added, "I would like to thank Alan, Michael and David for their hard work and professionalism during their time here and on behalf of everyone here, wish them the very best for their future careers."

Not surprised by Poke and Gonzales, but Navarro?? Looks like we are aiming high.

The players have now gone on holiday!

But poyet would have spoken to the players who he doesn't think will feature next year and they will announce the rest shortly

Blimey- that must be a boost for his confidence. "Exceptional season son, proved yourself at this level, now sling yer hook"

If I'm honest I can't see anyone being transfer listed, if offers come in for players who Gus feels aren't gonna have much of a part in our season next year then he'll probably end up selling but for now, I don't see any player likely to be transfer listed.

Dicker- I believe will be rotational
Harley- I believe will be in a similar role as he's been towards the end of this season, maybe go out on loan unless an offer is made for him and for it to be accepted.
Painter- Back up to another left back.
Vincelot- I fear he maybe be sold but if not I'd say he'll be rotational.
Ankergren- If another goal keeper comes in then I believe him and Brezovan will be back up to the next keeper that comes in, maybe with either Ankergren/Brezovan going out on loan for a few months.
Brezovan- As seen above ^
Noone- I fear he may leave during either transfer window, hasn't been consistent, on his day he's a great player but we need someone like that to be a lot more consistent.

Why the f*** did poyet play Navarro so much this season then? Him not wanting promotion this season looks more and more likely...

I agree with all releases through. Best for all parties involved.

Poke seems slightly odd as it was reported earlier in the week (and he confirmed it in the interview) that he had another year option - and the decision to stay or go was down to him.

Presumably there will be a lot more news in the near future regarding transfer-listed players?

If that's true - it's hardly the cull that Gus seemed to imply was going to happen...

I'm surprised at Navarro to be honest, if we are so well covered in that position, how come Alan was pretty much a constant in the side at the turn of the year when our form improved?

Is it more that others are in contracts that would be expensive to pay them off from!?

Really don't get this about Navarro. He started just about every game in the last third of the season ahead of Sparrow, JFC, Noone to name three? If Gus's thinks he's better than those 3 - can't understand why he isn't getting another contract

The thing is we don't know who is coming in.

There's no point in offering Navarro a deal now if we've got 3 new central midfielders signing in a couple of weeks - we just don't know.

The other players are in contract, and although they may have been told they are unlikely to feature much next year, they are still club employees unless someone comes in for them. If this is the case, I don't think it will be publically announced that they are on the transfer list, but their agents will be aware and they'll either try and get something else or sit out their contracts.

Very strange. I would have handed Dicker his p45 Instead of Nav. Gus taken a knock to the head at Stamford the other day or something.
