Another inept performance from Navarro.
The guy sitting in front of me hit the nail on the head when he said "where ever the ball is, Navarro isn't"

Because our defence is abysmal, Dicker is defensively woeful, and although Crofts can tackle, he is no "hard man" - so Navarro is in there to add a bit of "beef" to the midfield.

Sadly, you could add Roy Keane at his peak into our midfield and still he'd get accused of being "anonymous" by our supporters because they doesn't play pretty football like Gary Dicker.

Zero added "beef" in evidence today. Completly "beef" free in fact.

Is anyone really surprised that Navarro isn't very good? Why else would the MK Dons have let him go? Why do we always end up with other clubs' rubbish.

He is shit because we're playing three central midfielders, in Crofts, Navarro and Dicker. This leaves a huge gaping hole on the left hand side of midfield. None of these are left wingers, so it leaving the three of them to do IMO the graveyard shift in which none of them should be doing in the first place.

Whilst I agree that playing three central midfielders leaves us exposed on the left, this doesn't explain Navarro's poor positional play.
When he wasn't giving away cheap free- kicks today, his constant indecision meant that he failed to win the second ball time after time.
I saw one decent ball he played forward the rest of the game he either helped the ball on or passed it sideways to link play.
I seem to remember that under Wilkins El abd managed to play as a holding midfield, passed the ball sideways and helped the ball on. He even managed to win some headers and tackles.

Unfortunately, both Adams and Slade woefully neglected our left-side midfield, when having the opportunity and time to address the problem.

Consequently, we have not a single player capable of competing there properly and consistently.

Cox is lightweight and inconsistent...as was Davies . I can understand that Poyet is trying to strengthen the midfield by playing Navarro, but unfortunately, it took a few games for us to realise what utter dross Navarro is, and I imagine that Poyet has realised this too by now.

I would think that solving the left-side midfield problem is more priority than our lightweight central defenders come January 1st.

Hopefully we'll bring in Monkhouse from Hartlepool in January to address the left sided problem.

Scored again today for Hartlepool.

The problem we will have is tempting experienced players from up north to come south with house prices etc and the fact that if they are 30 years old they will probably be married with children settled at school etc

Usually I agree with your controversial arguments, but if you think Navarro is anywhere near Dicker in terms of class, ability on the ball and all round general presence, you're very very deluded.

You are so wrong it physically hurts, Dicker wins the ball in each game more than Navarro has in his Brighton career to date. By the way, does "play pretty football" mean "touch the ball more than five times in a game and sometimes pass it to teammates"? And are you actually capable of expressing an opinion and, you know, substantiate with facts or observations about football rather than brainless self aggrandising "our fans are so stupid except me, the crusader for truth" nonsense?

I've been trying the "expressing an opinion" for the last few months, but I've given up to be honest, as no matter what's happened on the pitch, the vast majority on NSC will self-pleasure themselves silly over Dicker and absolutely crucify Navarro.

There's just no point arguing anymore - but hey, if you want me to be pointless, I'll repeat my views that:

1) Dicker is a tidy player but he doesn't offer any more than "composure" - he isn't good enough defensively to regain posession, and he doesn't do enough if the final third to change matches. You won't see him make the 'killer pass'. Tidy, simple passing is good, if you can do it over a variety of distances having won the ball from your opponent, but Dicker doesn't do that.

2) Navarro has been alright during his second spell in the team, but the majority continue to slate him simply because he didn't perform at the beginning of the season when he kept fans favourite Dicker out of the team. He's a defensive midfielder who does what he's good at - which in his case is making the tackles and getting rid of the ball fast. He's in the team doing this job to add to the defence, which clearly isn't up to it.

It's no co-incidence that there are threads on here about how shit Navarro is each week despite him playing on the left, yet as soon as Poyet tries playing Dicker there instead and it doesn't work, it's all the managers fault for playing a man out of position.
