(without wanting to sound like a show-off, I've seen 10 out of the last 11 games, so I'm fairly sure I'm justified in having an opinion)

Here's an idea for you: Next game you go to, try taking your head out of your arse & watch what's actually happening on the pitch. It might not be particularly pleasant (in a variety of ways), but it might help to give you a bit of a different perspective.

I thought I'd be generous with my overflowing personal 'Ideas Mountain' - what with it being Christmas & that.

Honestly, some people are just soooooooo ungrateful.. :annoyed:

Were you there yesterday? Did you see how inept he was? If he had a job, he specifically didn't do it. He didn't influence the play at all, he was about as effective as Steven Thomson was, completely invisible and seriously hampering the team. I would go so far as to say that playing Navarro yesterday was the equivalent of playing Swindon with only 10 men. That's how bad he was.

No, I wasn't. But my point is that whatever Gus has asked him to do, it might be something that we don't notice.

Perhaps in Gus's mind, he wants someone to stand far away from the ball so the opposition have to spread out to cover him, providing gaps in defence for the rest of the team to use, and that's why it looks like he was always trying to stay far away from the ball. Because he was, under orders from Poyet.

Perhaps Gus wants him to be the guy to lull opponents into a false sense of security, make them think they can walk through the defence with ease, then bam! out of no where comes a sneaky tackle that wins the ball from the opponent.

And so on (to increasing degrees of ridiculousness)

It looks to us like whatever his job is, he isn't doing it, but we don't know what Gus wants from him, so we don't really know.

As for yesterday specifically, perhaps (if Navarro wasn't doing what he was asked to) Gus will view it as an off day and give him a chance again, or perhaps he will be dropped. We'll see on boxing day.

*For the record, I'm not trying to defend Navarro. When I've seen him play he hasn't particularly stood out to me, good or bad, so I don't really have an opinion on him. I just think to question his inclusion in the team based on performances is to question Poyet's common sense, and I'm not at that point yet.

On an internet message board is that really so bad? We're just posting opinions/views etc, to get so worked up on here seems a waste of energy to me.

Of course not, you're one of the few posters who is actually worth reading. Even when I don't neccessarily agree with what you're saying, but you rarely seem to define a specific opinion, and don't let your posts be ruled by your heart, so to speak.

Without politics and without looking at it from all perspectives, how do you rate Navarro's recent performances? Would YOU want him in the team on Boxing Day?

I honestly don't know. When I've seen him play he hasn't really stood out to me, but I don't know if that is him doing his job with quiet efficiency or him avoiding taking part in the game.

I think it would be good to give some fringe players more of a run in the team. It seems sometimes managers have a preferred first team, and let that team screw up a lot before dropping a player. They then give a reserve player a chance, and if that player makes one mistake, they get dropped out for the original guy.

I would like to see some of the fringe players given a chance and even if it doesn't work out in the first game, they should be given the same support as the first choice. i.e. if Navarro has been underperforming, but for whatever reason Gus has been persevering and he decides to give mccloud a chance, he should give mccloud 5 or 6 games, not just drop him because he makes a mistake.

It's pleasant to read measured comments that aren't from the X-factor girly side of NSC but Navarro is slow and awkward. Stuart Myall performed his role much more effectively 14 years ago but got booted out. If the Albion had signed Jonathan Douglas instead to do the holding role we might be in the top half of the table.

Oi! shut it MacKenzie. It was a piss-poor comeback from a wannabe 'man' who got precisely what he deserved. What team are you on? I mean, I very much enjoy reading about the exploits of you & your chums as you travel the highways & byways of our Septic Isle - but I can go off people, ya know. So who you gonna choose here? A sodding halfwit who thinks - amongst every other bit of crap that he inflicts upon NSC - that Alan Navarro is an answer (& not yet another problem): or a football-going THOROUGHBRED who actually goes to Albion games ;watches what happens on the park; & has a friggin' clue about who's shite & who isn't??

The time for moaning, ignorant bastards is well & truely OVER. It's hard-ball or nought, as far as I'm concerned.

Merry f***ing Christmas.

1) Where the hell have I said he's an answer? I just don't think he's bad as the sheep following the "Navarro is shit" bandwagon make out.

2) You're saying I don't go to games now? This season has seen me attend less games than the last few, but if 18 games isn't good enough for your high horse then god knows what is.

3) Don't usually stoop to such a level, but "I don't have a friggin' clue"? Sorry, aren't you a woman?

Navarro is shit but so is Crofts and, to a lesser extent Dicker.

Overall:
Navarro 3/10
Crofts 4/10
Dicker 5/10

Quite simply, none will do anything utterly embarrassing but none are near enough for where we want to go. Get rid.

Hold on, going by NSC precedent, you can't say Dicker is shit (even though he is) or you're automatically considered a "shit head".

Fool.

So going on that, who are should we sign to replace them? Assuming your right midfielder is Bennett, what players should we sign to complete that midfield?

Realistic signings please aswell- so players who will go to a league one club in the relegation zone commanding average league one wages and average league one prices

Had our chance in the summer didn't we, new chairman and a "feel-good" factor about the club.

Now we're back to being total shithouse again, nobody will play for us, so we're stuck with mediocre turd.

Just one of those things.
