My humble assesment of Mark McGhee

Yes I've said Albert is a good player and one of Magoo's better acqusitions and if only Magoo would get rid of all Adams deadwood such as Oatway, Watson, Kuipers, Mayo, Hart, Jones etc and really build for the future than he would get more support.

McGhee hasn't had any choice on those six. He had to give Oatway and Jones new contracts because they had it written into their previous contracts that they'd get new ones if they played enough games. The other four are still under contracts largely given out by Dick Knight in the summer that we didn't have a manager.

I'm sure Lee, Beck and Hammond will be released at the end of their three-month contracts next month. Piercy should not have been given a new contract.

I won't say the obvious and blame Dick Tight but until we can ship out the likes of Oatway and Hart who are patently out of their depth in this division then we will continue to struggle.
It's obvious that Magoo doesn't rate Hart or Jones as he wouldn't have signed Albert or Currie and the likes of Oatway and Watson are well past their best and need moving on too.
It's too like a comfy old folks home with contracts being given out for nowt and hopefully Magoo will change this and start being a bit more ruthless.

I'm really starting to worry about McGhee's manageriale abilities of late. I'm not so much talking about the performances but more about what he does and says.

First of all he has two substitutions up his sleeve. Robinson on for Molango and Jones on for Jarrett. Nearly always after neither of them are having a bad game.

He then goes on to complain that we are having a lot of quality crosses going into the box and yet no one is getting on the end of them. Well if you have Knight and Robinson up front they are not likely to are they?!?!

He moans and moans about not having a target man up front. Hello, what is Molango supposed to be then?

It seems that McGhee has only one game plan. Have a target man up front along with Knight. Hoof the ball up front. Hope the target man can win it, control it and then lay off a killer pass to Knight. If this doesn't happen because he doesn't have the personel then he blames the fact that he doesn't have a target man?!?!

Have a look at your squad McGhee. They are clearly not suited to your style of play and I'm not so sure route one football is going to work in this division anyway.

He then has the nerve to start mentioning injuries!!!!!! Well once Oatway, Chippy and Roger are fit etc etc!! As Lush said last night, if that is what we are relying on then we are ion some serious trouble!! Has he even seen Roger play?

In my opinion we already have a good enough sqauad to stay up this year. He has limited resources and so I suggest he starts thinking about playing the ball through mid field a bit more and putting in some whippy balls TO FEET!

ps good to see Knight go down about 4 times like he's been shot and claiming penalties left right and centre in order to get his goal tally up!

Something needs to be done FAST but I fear that McGhee has run out of idea(s)!

Firslty, it's an assessment, but it's not humble.

Secondly, opinion on having good enough squad is meaningless against fact of having a good enough squad - see monkey boy Peter Reids plea. Also consider our squad consists of unproven youth, ageing slothful leaguers and the odd good day chancer, but hey don't most league teams...er bar Wigan et al.

Thirdly, with regards to doing something FAST - in football speed of change and success is in direct correlation to cash, something we don't have a lot either.

In summary, it was always going to be a tough, tough season in a very tough division. We didn't get promotion easily, we won't stay up easily...with any manager excepting a deluge of cash or volunteering talent. That said, stadium approval would be a good positive tonic.

People's strong views and clashing opinions are one of the main reasons why I read NSC. It's why it's far and away the best Albion messageboard because all the others generally contain people who agree too much with other - that is crushingly boring.

If people have the stomach for a bit of banter along the way as they argue the toss, I think that's even better.
