[Albion] Murray - class is permanent if you give him some time on the pitch

Class is indeed permanent. Was he lucky to not have his goal ruled out though, must've been a close one!

Class is permanent but fitness ain’t. Perfectly good goal and GM knew it

Yes he did. Watching on a stream I said to my son straight away that’s ok. Looked live as a clear handball but the way he immediately celebrated he knew he hadn’t handled it.

I was going ballistic at the injustice when the ref blew, totally forgetting that VAR assisted.

West Ham fan I work with is not having it, he’s convinced it’s a hand ball even after the replays

Give him the service he wants and he'll score the goals - when The Greyhound and The Hare (March) came on normal service was resumed. Hand ball? Never in a million years, Glen knew it wasn't, wouldn't have celebrated like he did because he knew VAR would confirm he was right.

You have to bear in mind that we're creating infinitely more chances now than we were last season. Murray gets in the right positions and he can finish. Both those factors are irrelevant of age

Slower reflexes are not irrelevant alas, nothing to do with pace. He’s not the same player as he was in that first season and a half in the Prem. It will be a huge gamble to rely on him

Fantastic performance from Glenn. Even in the games where Potter starts Maupay, I now hope Muzza will at least get 20+ minutes off the bench. He is that something different that we are missing at the moment. Is the the long-term solution? Of course not, he's 36. But he's the best goalscorer we have (and have ever had) and as somebody else wrote, the club were wise to stick with Glenn rather than spurning millions on another January flop.

Hands up, I didn’t think Murray had that performance left in the locker. Idiotic to write Murray off - just look at Smug Pardew & Smug Eddie.

We clearly didn’t need Giroud on £100k+ per week but by god, it’s going to cost us a Benteke amount to replace Glenn. Best purchase that man in the Summer.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely massively wanted a new striker signed, but that hasn't happened. Can't believe his reflexes will have deteriorated that much since last season, he shows us today and in preseason that he's still a very capable player. Even if he only gets us 5/6 goals from now on in, that could be all the difference. Most other clubs January signings are not going to score more than 6 goals between now and may

It’s astonishing how many West Ham fans are still claiming that as a handball there were about 20 replays of it on VAR which all show it did not touch his arm

Just seen that our first goal, where their GK punched it against their player, that Murray was ducking and the ball went over him as a result; clever.

Glenn is the best striker we’ve ever had in my view and the fact he can still do it at 36 in the Premiership is pretty impressive. Lost his place in the team to a younger, hungry striker. What happens? Gets his place back and scores a vital equaliser.

We may sing about Zamora and Ward but Murray has played and scored for Albion in three seasons in the top division now. That’s better than either of those two.....

Singe Benteke in the summer?

Agree. Our best ever striker. He can still save our season and it isn't just his goal scoring. LEGEND.

What I would say is that while we are definitely looking more of a threat this season, our deliveries into the box needs to improve greatly. I am particularly thinking of Trossard when I say this who flatters to deceive a lot of the time. Looks good on the ball but his final ball is often poor. For Muzza to get the goals we all know he’s capable of he needs balls whipped in at pace not airy fairy aimless balls that Trossard has a tendency to do.

Muzza has a massive part to play for us the rest of this season, not just for his goal threat - I think Maupay could really benefit from his presence and feeding off & running in behind him.

Have a read on the hammers forum , why have we never signed Murray, sign him next season if we go down, if Haller played like Glenn Murray we might have a player he’s unbelievable proper CF display yesterday.

What? No Comment from Stat?

Surely not?

I've got nothing new to say.

I can hardly roll my eyes at Spence only to then keep climbing up onto my soapbox.
