I have been contemplating taking up fishing so that I can have time to contemplate. Sea or river appeals. I fantasise about driving to a remote mountainous region for the weekend and fly fishing in the most scenic of rivers. The trouble is I'm not sure I want to inflict distress upon the wee beasties for my own amusement. Maybe sea fishing and eating what you catch is more justifiable. Can't see the point in fishing a ready filled carp lake though.

Well if you fly fish for trout you can eat them (usually a limit on your catch).

Have some mates who fly fish and would bring back their catch, have one each themselves and flog the rest to a local pub.

When I first started work, one of the guys in the office owned a couple of miles of salmon fishing on the Exe…….fair chance the bit in E1 was on his stretch (just below Tiverton)………topography looked about right
