I understand 20mph around schools and colleges but every residential street? They really detest car drivers don't they? It's almost an outright hatred.

The Tories proposed an amendment to allow more time for a consensus to be made. This was supported by the Labour Party. The Greens voted this down in their mad rush to adopt this unenforceable policy.
The Labour Party proposed that all A roads and B roads that are bus routes be exempt. The Greens opposed and the Tories abstained.
It's worth noting that the police or Sussex Safety Partnership have no approved equipment to catch out anyone exceeding the 20mph speed.
Over 1000 people objected officially to the proposals advertised in the Traffic Order, three residents supported the measures.

5 Greens, 3 Blues, 2 Reds.Errr ..... unless somethings changed then if Labour and the Tories DID work together they could out vote the Greens. There would appear to be some scabs in the aforementioned parties !
