This is true, we "were" under the radar, once you hit the headlines as we are, we will have to either pay more, or move on to the next untapped market, maybe Asia, Scandinavia or central America, however our reputation will proceed us now, and we will ultimately pay more for some players.

@dazzer6666 is right to not want me as chairman. But fans of every other club would be just as livid If they sold their star young player to a team now known for a) having money and b) picking a bargain and c) having money. Could you imagine the absolute scenes at Chelsea if they sold us Colwill. It simply wouldn't be enough money for their supporters. So how do we get these players moving forward? I don't believe there is a never ending supply of unknown gems out there, eventually they run out or we get priced out (or we simply have a run of duds and no first tem progression) so it really wouldn't surprise me if in the next season or two we see a big change in our transfer tactics (not to mention the fact both Newcastle and Chelsea are going to be very interested in anyone we are linked with). Obviously we will always be in for those kind of players, but we may also start to think about (for instance) competing for out of contract players or higher tier players (a la Dortmund- Hazard, Brandt, Haller etc) via slightly higher wages. Sounds dangerous but we control wages, we can't control over inflation of the market.
The moment an English player gets a cap (March it looks like) he is worth that kind of money. It's nuts but thats how inflated prices are for Englishmen.
Agree with the last bit….but think the impact will be more likely us getting gazumped as we try to do deals for ‘unknowns’.

Very much this. The club also do enormous research on the player, and how they will be able to settle. Look at the interview with Buonanotte, where he mentions on more than one occasion that the club had arranged for his family to come over to help with the settling in process.
He would be if he was not a Chelsea player and they were bidding for him.
If three want him then it will be over 80 million I expect. He has shown he dominates premier league games vs anyone at the age of 21. It is hardly a gamble to sign him. Incredibly I don’t see 80 million as “eye-watering”
