:nono: honestly, all you lot reminiscing over quadrophenia and smashing peoples heads in. But I would probably have to admit looking at myself Im a mod, but I think scooters are stupid as hell.

I KNOW dad will say rocker.

This reminds me of a time when the Mod & Rocker rally was on and a kid about 8 sitting next to me on the bus stop asked his mum "why are there all these motorbikes driving around?"
"Its to do with the mod & rocker fights in the 1960's, the mods rode scooters and the rockers rode motorbikes"
"Would you think I'd be a mod or a rocker?"

This is when the mum went berserk. I don't blame her really, I don't think she'd want her son to go around having fights on Bank holiday weekend and taking drugs.

As you can guess a Rocker at heart, but when i was a nipper some of the Scooter boys liked Psychobilly and hated mods. So yes a Rocker, but had a scoooter :moo:

Isn't this almost 50 years too late? I know when I started riding bikes in 1980 there were some silly buggers who had watched Quadrophenia & thought it was 1963 but there were virtually no scooters or big British bikes around by then.

I thought the whole thing was a bit sad myself, there may be plenty of reasons to have a scuffle with someone but them riding a retro hairdryer was never top of my list; I just blew past them on my LC and had a laugh!

Oh Bugger, I rode Jap Crap so I can't be a Rocker anyway.......

Dandyman

In London village.
Modernist.

Anyone who would do something as vulgar as have a ruck with a dirty greasy Rocker was not a real Mod.

Catagorized as a 'rocker' way back in the 60's. Difficult for me as a 17/18 year old and a police cadet to boot! I was stationed at Hove, Lewes HQ & Lewes West St. I was part of the Southern Observers MCC & we used to meet at The Hare & Hounds, Preston Circus. All of us, and I mean all, used to ensure we were away at bike racing, Brands, Crystal P****e [yes in the old days something exciting used to happen there!]. Then there were the Kent based grass track meetings. There were also the 'scrambles' [moto X now]. so all weekends were out of harms way. We also did The Argus [Evening Argus as it was then] Christmas appeal. The attached photo is the 1963 one based from Carden school. Phone calls would come in & we would collect the donations of either cash or goods. I'm on the Velocette with my brother Terry on pillion. Ray Standen is on the other Velo & Johnnie Wellard on the Triumph. I wonder how many of the other members are still in the Brighton area? Ray lives near Sydney [Oz] and I recently found him on Facebook, anyone else out there?
