Er? What do you think?
I think you'll find Hippy Music - Woodstock generation is the best ever but carry on
Ha! self-indulgent rip offs of the blues at best, turgid dirges as a norm.
You really don't know much about music from the hippy era of 68-75 do you? This might help
Hippie Music - Songs with a Message - Hippies From A to Z by Skip Stone
Had a look at that list and (1) The Who were never hippie music (2) most of the rest of the rest of the list were/are utter shite. .
1) Magic Bus and Baba O'Reilly, I Can see for Miles all slot nicely into what could be termed hippie music. Have a look at Daltrey in his tassled Red Indian top, looking like an uncool Neil Young as well

2) I believe it is your taste that is shit if you believe that
I Can See For Miles - hippy?
Baba O'Reilly - hippy?
Wha...?
I hesitated before posting something about the Who knowing how many anti hippie types on here love their music, but yeah around Woodstock time they had a BIG hippie following which in turn makes it Hippie music, no?
I notice you didn't challenge Magic Bus..
Magic Bus (the single) is not a hippy recording. So, Magic Bus - hippy? Wha...?
The Who HATED Woodstock, didn't want to do it, didn't want anything to do with the hippies and only did it because their management stitched them up over it. They would happily disown their participation in it were it not for the fact so many people hailed their performance. For the record, they thought they were shit that night.
The played Woodstock, but didn't play Baba O'Reilly (it hadn't been written), didn't play I Can See For Miles, and I don't think played Magic Bus either, though their usual set at the time would have contained a 10-minute rocked out version of it, as far removed from the record as possible.
It really doesn't matter whether the Who embraced the Hippys, the hippys embraced the Who of that era so I'm afraid it has to be considered hippy music. The fact that the band played at the biggest hippy festival ever makes them part of it. You make the Who sound like a right miserable bunch of cnuts if what you say is true.
They hated hippies. They hated Woodstock. Syimples.
Hmm, I'd like to see this quoted from one of their mouths rather than yours...the only reference I can find doesn't come as you are suggesting even though the interviewer is trying to put words into his mouth.
GOLDMINE: The Who played at two of the most famous festivals of all time, Monterey and Woodstock, and hated both.
JOHN ENTWISTLE: Woodstock was okay, but we had to wait 14 hours to get on the stage. I walked around the outside with the audience, had a few drinks
