If this is true, then you have almost certainly broken a) your Uncle's trust and b) the club embargo that is placed on all these things. That is bang out of order and you should be f***ing ashamed of yourself.

If not true, then it is a wind-up of ridiculously pathetic proportions and I will take great pleasure in banning you tomorrow morning.

Excommunicating again Hiney ?

People on this board take the piss out of Newcastle, Leeds, Chelsea etc etc for their managerial changes/bad running of the club but don't see we're EXACTLY the same. We're just a lower-league Newcastle in recent years. The difference is they've got 50,000 fans so probably have a right to demand some sort of success whereas we've got 5,000. Very few people are capable of stepping back and looking at us objectively. We're a shit club in a shit stadium with shit support in a shit league and some shit players. Right now, mid-table in this league is not a disgrace. Of course, when Falmer is close to opening and we want to attract bigger crowds then there needs to be more pressure on people to perform and harsher penalties if they don't, but right here right now we're a f***ing joke if we think we've got a right to sack managers after 13 games. This would be 3 in 18 months. Says it all.

I agree with all of that, except for suggesting that we're a shit club, which we aren't. We shouldn't be considering sacking ANOTHER manager, especially one who is doing a quietly competant job and who knows what he is doing. Given time, he'll get us right. Nigel Clough spent 10 years at Burton before getting them promoted, I wonder if they got arsey while taking his time to get the club properly ready for league football.

Agree.

The amount of lets laugh at ...... threads always amuses me, as well as the havent .... got shit fans, well Withdean is the only ground I have been to where the players tell homefans to f*** off, thats great support

Slade is the type of manager need for at least a couple of seasons, give him till christmas at least, he deserves it.

Judging by the teams lack of backbone, ill discipline and poor selection i'd say slade isnt the type of manager we need, none of those can be blamed on bodger and badger either

With Mike Newell being sacked last night there has been a rumour going around locally , spread by Crap Town fans saying that Russell Slade will be the next Grimsby Town manager although they would prefer to bring in Taylor or Coppell.

The facts dont lie..we are in a dire league position and quite frankly its been a dire season. Some people seem to forget that Russell Slade has spent more money this summer than any previous manager has done in years. Infact you'd probably have to go as far back as the eighties to find a better example. Whilst i agree that this does not guarentee instant success and these things take time you also have to argue that where we are currently placed is unacceptable given the money that has been spent. Personally out of all the summer signings i only believe Tunnicliffe and Bennett have proven worthwhile and that they could arguably play at a higher level. £250,000 was reported to have been spent on Dickinson. At our current level for that sum of money you would expect a better return than what we have got. In my opinion Slade has spent a few quid pre season and largely got it wrong. Lets just hope Bloom is prepared to dive deeper into his pocket when the transfer market re-opens in January

:lolol:

Glad you said that s.o.g. - as I was almost on the verge of looking for another sport to get passionate about.

If this type of constant rumourmongering/instant success-or-else/ sack everybody-type-shite becomes the norm at our club (& it's becoming all the more common): then you can f-ing well shove it. Jeeeeez.. :nono:

Hang on there chaps. The guy was told to f*** off and then told he would be banned. He said nothing offensive unless you think daring to post Slade may be sacked is offensive. Can we stop being so precious about Slade, he is in a ruthless business that is judged on results. Something he has failed to do with 3 wins and 8 losses this season. If he has said this behind his Uncle's back that is up to him to justify but this slaughtering of him is all rather offensive in my book.

Abort, retry, fail
I think he has three games to get it right. But the next two after Oldham will be tough, so I fully expect Slade to be sack if we lose to Oldham, because if this continues much longer it will be like last season.

Basil, you gave him three games... three games ago!

I think Slade has three games to save himself, because after Yeovil, Gillingham and Tranmere. We've got Leeds, Charlton and Norwich coming up and I'm not expecting anything out of those three, with the way things are going at the moment.

In fairness though Unc, he's gone a lot further than that.
He's reporting as FACT that Slades gone. There's a difference. If he's come up with a SCOOP for us, then fair play. If he's posting fictional shite to pass it off as fact then he's a nobber and deserves to be banned.

(and yes, I am on thin ice here...)

The problem is the club rested on it's laurels of the early 00s and didn't move players out when they stopped being useful or were never going to be useful. Perhaps all of us got seduced by the 'production line' of the youth system as well (although some fair players have come out of it).

Wilkins to his credit tried to do it Slade had the nerve and backing to follow it through. He is a few months into a major rebuilding job and deserves the time to finish it.

Totally agree. What's worse is that not only do some people think we have the right to sack anybody after 13 games, this is the man who pulled of a genuine miracle to keep us up last season. I don't care what run of results we go on, he deserves until at least January.

I was only commenting on what the Codheads think will happen in the near future , Taylor or Coppell would give a polite refusal if GTFC enquired after them. Slade could go back as John Fenty will make money available for January transfers , the playing budget was one of the factors in him leaving originally.

i heard that from a couple of Scunny fans at work

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
For about 5 minutes in each half on Saturday we looked like a team that could go places when they picked the tempo up and started passing to each other on the ground, outplaying Tranmere completely. However they then ruined it completly by loosing confidence (although I'm not at all sure that most of the players are in fact good enough to maintain that style for any length of time) and reverted to head tennis and hoofball, banging the ball up the field as far it would go, but usually directly to tranmere player. If Slade is trying to get them to play proper football then there is still a chance. However if we are going to panic every time an opposing forward gets within 25 yard of goal, its going to be a long cold season again.
